I know this has probably been asked before, but could bringing in West mean Chris Paul might sign an extension?

If you think the Magic get to the Finals without Jameer Nelson you need you head screwed on properly. One of the most underrated players in the NBA.

It's a random aside, but didn't they do exactly that in 2009?  Jameer missed the final 40 regular season games, and the first three rounds of the playoffs.  The Magic made the Finals behind Rafer Alston.  Jameer came back for the Finals, but the Magic lost in five games.

Anyway, I'm with the others in this thread that trusts Aldridge, Woj, and Spears over Mark Murphy on this info.

im curious as to why we didnt make this happen.....
Too much coffee and Gatorade. It's a hell of a mix. If you're ever tired in the morning, just try that mix, and tell me what you think. -Kevin Garnett

"My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the f***ing truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this."

I've been waiting, biting my nails on this, probably like most of you....except it's night here in Shanghai.  This would be quite the coup....though still can't quite figure why NO can't get something better.  Meanwhile, the Fakers seem to be drawing closer to a CP3 deal....that seems imminent, unfortunately.

So if it true and Stern vetoed this trade, Why???

West is a free agent. NO is rebuilding, because like it or not, CP3 is going to LA.

NO gets a couple players to play with in trades, and maybe a good draft pic, for a guy they weren't getting anything for if he signed some wheres else.

Now there was rumor of a third team. Could that have involved an other superstar instead that would make it some thing Stern would veto????

I haven't seen a credible link that says that Stern vetoed this, or told the teams that he would veto it.

I'm talking about the current Magic team.
But yes, that is a good point lol.

I guess the question is, do the Magic make that a better series with a healthy Jameer (or even win the whole thing?)

Guy has carried the team when Howard has shriveled up on multiple occasions.

And I'm taking Woj's rumors over anyone else's.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

a line up of rondo. ray, PP, KG and West matches up just fine with what the heat will play..and JO most likely gets cut...and boston could bring him back

Just for clarification, the Celts couldn't bring back JO this season if he's traded and then cut.  The league closed that loophole with the new CBA.

For someone who is just waking up -- can someone clarify as to whether the deal is in play or dead?  The top story on the CB front page has the deal dead -- but it appears that this is not the current thinking.

If still alive, can someone find the rationale that would justify NO (or a 3rd team) taking JO for West?  C's have to be giving up something else.

Last note -- I had been wondering if the Lakers would find a way to get West once the CP deal was done.  Would love get West before Lakers are back in the market.

Well, at least they accomplished something with the new CBA.  Maybe next time they'll keep all the stars from going to the big-market teams....  :)

I can't find a link that says its dead. Jeff's link refers to Jeff Green as being traded for West. That contradicts other reports.
