Wojo and Spears versus some random beat writer.

I'll go with Yahoo's report and assume an earlier deal fell through, then was later brought back because the Herald's time line makes no sense and you'd imagine that info wouldn't have just been a throw in to that particular article.

So is the DWest thing still one? Front page of blog says otherwise..

The definitive answer is.. "Maybe."

Thanks.

Hope so. This would be a sweet deal. I'd hate to lose JO, but we'd pick up some scoring punch with DWest down low. He's not a bad defender, either.

Why is everybody automatically so hyped? Do we even know in what condition West is after last year's surgery?

Because we'd be stealing him with Jermaine O'Neal and Sasha Pavlovic.

The Herald's talking about Delonte, right?

Edit: Haha. Just saw the blurb in the Quis article about David West, the Delonte West stuff was easier to find.

something just occurred to me --- with danny ainge making moves for brandon bass and david west today, and also signing chris wilcox, i think we can officially say, as if there were any doubt:

danny ainge absolutely LOVES undersized power forwards.

Huh?  Who's undersized?  Those guys are undersized for the 5...not the 4.

Brandon Bass 6-8 and LONG
David west 6-9 and ripped
Chris Wilcox 6-10

wilcox is 6'9''.  under 6'10'' is traditionally considered undersized for PF, while under 6'11'' is traditionally considered undersized for center.

although i will concede to you that in the modern NBA the concept of "undersized" seems to be eroding with all of the 6'8'' and 6'9'' swing forwards and there being so few skilled true centers.

I don't know that undersized is that new a concept, in the past they just lied about their height more.

until i hear yahoo sports report otherwise, i'm assuming this deal is happening. so, we get west, don't give up green, trade for bass, sign wilcox, trade for dooling...this has been an incredible day for us. screw cp3. rondo can do crazy damage with this crew. use what we have left to sign a center, and lets go.

With West, Bass and Wilcox it looks like we have some PF's.  If the David West trade is true (and we actually are only giving up JO), then maybe it's time to blow up the team.

Offer Orlando the following:

Rondo - 10 mil - Legit talent
KG - 21 mil expiring
Jeff Green - 6 mil
+ multiple first round draft picks

for

Dwight - 18 mil
Turkaglu 11 + 2 years (he's a crap player with 3 years on his crap contract)
Jameer Nelson 7.3 mil + 1 year (i think hes crap, but I guess we'll need a point guard)

Give's Orlando a bunch of cap relief, takes Turkaglu off their books.  If they want they can substitute JJ Reddick for Nelson.  Doesn't matter to me.  Nelson is garbage.

Boston:

PG - Jameer Nelson
SG - Ray
SF - Pierce
PF - David West
C - Dwight Howard

pretty much makes no sense, but seems like the only reasonable chance we'd have at landing Dwight Howard.

Wow, getting West isn't good enough?  We're getting greedy!  I like it. But I'm pretty sure Orlando will get better offers than that.

I'm fine with KG playing center for the year.  With West and KG's shooting touch I think you'll see Pierce and Green post up more and also give Rondo more room to drive to the hoop.  And is KG any smaller than J.O. at the 5?  Barely.  I'd still like to see the $3 mil used on a center but with West the starting 5 will be better suited for the regular season.  The playoffs might be a different story but all the biggest teams are out West anyway so we only have to worry once we get to the Finals.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If you think the Magic get to the Finals without Jameer Nelson you need you head screwed on properly. One of the most underrated players in the NBA.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
