Kinda worried about the knee... Am i overreacting?
I am a little worried about it too but I am choosing to ignore those concerns for now.

Too good an opportunity not to risk it. Happily accept the risk.

I'm 100% with you!  ACLs on big men over 30 scare the hell out of me.

So how does this effect going after a big FA next year like we all planned to?

John Hollinger:  How can David Stern NOT kill a David West-for-garbage trade

Adding some weight to those "Hollinger loves the Lakers, hates the Celtics" conspiracy theories. ;)
Hollinger hates Jeff Green because Green struggled so much at PF while at OKC.

Too much focus on his stats. Not enough on the talent / skill-set (that J.Green could be a valuable player if used in a different role).

Because David West is a legitimate free agent?

Umad?
They are taking on $6 million in salary and getting nothing useful out of the deal.

Are draft picks involved? There would have to be picks involved for there to be any benefit for New Orleans.

Two options:

1.  From what I understand, the Lakers needed to take back some salary in their three way trade.  JO's could be what gets it done; or

2.  Jermaine could retire, not costing the Hornets his salary.

EDIT:  In line with the above:

Ugh so if it's not the latter we would be helping LA get CP3?

I don't like that.

If we don't do it, someone else will. Why lose out on West, especially if we can keep Green?

Let the Fakers give up their huge size advantage. That is what has won them ch'ips the past couple of years.

yeah, if the league is going to allow the paul trade to go through, it's going to go through.  nothing to stop it.  i tend to agree that it could actually make the lakers less imposing this year.  the good news is that the lakers aren't getting david west in a sign and trade as part of the chris paul trade.  that would have been very troubling indeed.

the most troubling part of the chris paul is that it means the lakers will remain relevant well past the end of kobe's career.  the lakers are never required to rebuild, like everybody else.  oh well.  the good news is that they are probably less likely to be as imposing this year, unless somehow they swing a trade for howard (but my guess is howard goes to the nets).

It doesn't if you amnesty Pierce to make it work

doesn't necessarily kill that dream, though i think part of the motivation here has to be that it looks very much like deron, paul, and howard will all be with new teams this year and will remain with those teams.  so no use holding onto that future cap space at the detriment of competing this year.

That won't happen.  I think Wyc is too loyal to Pierce to allow him to be waived to sign somewhere else.

We couldn't sign a max guy, but depending on what we do with Jeff Green and whether Bass opts out, we still could have around $12m+ to sign somebody.

Dwight Howard would be worth it.

But that's a long shot now anyways.

Heh. I much rather the Heat worry about JO getting injured than the C's.

Well, I have to say that I am very excited. I don't love the idea of losing Green or JO; however, a lineup of our Core Four plus West is quite possibly the best 5 man unit since Larry Bird donned Green.

Even if his blows up in his face, I admire the hell out of Danny for doing everything in his power to bring banner #18 to Boston.
