Scola is overrated.

Martin is constantly injured.

Odom is average.

Committing 73+ million to these guys is silly when the team has been hemorrhaging money even WITH Chris Paul as the mealticket.

It's a lotto team

Chris Broussard:

Quote
Union has told NBA if suitable CP trade not made by Monday, it will pursue other options, including litigation.

Hornet's beat writer John Reid:

Quote
Chris Paul arrived at the Hornets' practice facility at 3 p.m., one of six players participating in training camp, which just started.
Sheesh basketball needs to start about sick of all this litigation talk

While the league decision might not be fair, I don't see how it's illegal.

The trade was never "made" it was just rumored so heavily that people thought it was.

It's really no different than Ainge agreeing in principle to make the trade and then having Wyc block it.

The owner has the right to make the final call for whatever reason, and in this case the owner is the league.

please we don't need another day or so involving rondo in some other trade rumors. Let's go Chris Paul to LA and make them pay for him the right price.

Now, considering the situation... do we really need cap flexibility for next year? I hope danny can go after players like Hamilton or, better, Jamal Crawford.

Just a question: do we have the MLE if we sign&trade Jeff Green?

Martin+Scola+Dragic > Gasol > Rondo
Odom > Green

If you are focused on rebuilding, and New Oreleans should, then both of your equations are wrong.  The Laker deal MIGHT enable New Orleans to compete better this year ... e.g. win 1/2 their games, but it makes them much worse when it comes to rebuilding ... and rebuild they will have to do, because those 4 guys are not a championship core.

Fully agreed. Those guys won't get them a player of Rondo's value.

They're basically giving away Rondo for the right of being a borderline playoff team for the next 2 years.

It's insane.

NOH should be asking for Bynum. Or that the Lakers manage to convert Gasol into a high-level prospect or a very good pick.

I agree.  I see no legitimate legal action here.  Paul is, in fact, under contract for this season, and the league owns the Hornets.  It's their prerogative (as you say, just like it would be Wyc's) to accept or reject a trade that their GM brings to them.

I hope this drags out.  Every day that passes that this trade is held up is another day LA is stuck unable to strenghten their roster.  The proposed trade changes the roster and salary dynamics so dramtically that they really can't make moves till it's done.  I hope it is a long wait.

i dont think we have the full MLE with jeff green and bass signed we are at like 73 million. thats 3 million over the luxury tax so we have about 2 million of the MLE left i guess? not sure i asked this question earlier though

Rondo???

And that makes perfect sense, and is defensible.  So many histrionics and bed wetting by the professional NBA tweeters over this, when in fact, Stern's making sense here.

Rondo???
So that Lakers-Rockets-Hornets trade is officially dead and never to be resurrected.

Sounds like LA will have to send A.Bynum to NOH to have a chance at Chris Paul.

Good news for the Celtics chances of acquiring C.Paul. Rondo and Jeff Green certainly fits what the league is looking for in a CP3 trade.

Ehh, it would look bad on the NBA from a PR standpoint if he goes to another team...imagine the outrage if the nba rejects a done deal to the lakers and then he gets traded to the Celtics??

this just means that Lakers are going to have to give up more for CP3...perhaps Andrew Bynum..and I hope they do. it makes the lakers a worse team IMO

hes going to be a laker

Teams that are over the cap don't get the full MLE. New CBA in place now.
