Interesting that there are no rumors of the framework this time.

probably keeping it close to the vest until it's approved.

in any case, sounds like paul is probably a laker by the end of the weekend.  i just hope and pray dwight doesn't follow.
I don't really care about Howard -- he'll do what he'll do eventually. I just hope we can snag David West in the ruckus.

i care about howard because if paul and howard team up in LA the west will belong to the Lakers for at least the last 4-5 years of Kobe's career, and they'll be a juggernaut well beyond that.

thats why OKC got Perkins. Howard is useless against him.

Hearing from an agent that Chris Paul deal or no deal is holding up a lot other potential deals, so expect an avalanche when/if it gets done

@gwashburn14

The CP3 deal has been re-submitted...hopefully, the rest of the deals will be completed soon after.

perkins certainly helps limit him, and the thunder will definitely be a top contender in the west for years to come.  but regardless of matchups, you combine paul and howard on the same team with any sort of decent supporting cast and they're a juggernaut.

don't forget the lakers won't necessarily even face the thunder every season in the playoffs if a third team provides a credible threat (e.g. the grizz).

In restructured 3 way deal, Houston still sending Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, and 2012 picks to Hornets, sources say.

- Adrian Wojnarowski.

So, Houston has added another pick instead of Dragic? I hope Pau Gasol is worth it.

EDIT: Its just one pick 2012 first (Knicks). Doesn't make sense. Houston is holding back Dragic..otherwise its the same offer as far as they are concerned.

I love Pau as a player, but we're talking about a 31 year old coming off a mediocre, disinterested year and a terrible playoffs, who is making $19 million per year for the next three seasons.

I'm not sure that tying up 33% of your salary cap in an aging player who doesn't want to play for your team is a good idea.

I'm gonna laugh if the "reworked" deal is just something like the Lakers taking back Okafor's contract.  Yeah, it hurts them financially, but makes them a stronger team.

I thought Odom was still in the deal. That's bizzare. Let's just get this  thing done, so that we can see what comes out of the David West situation.

Yeah, I would rather have Scola, Martin and the pick. He has already expressed displeasure in playing for Houston.

I don't think the Lakers will deal both Bynum and Gasol.  I think it will be the Lakers taking back more salary.  Jack, Ariza, and Okafor.  And maybe adding a pick.

i doubt it.  that would mean they'd be giving up gasol and bynum in the trade.  that seems like too steep a price to pay for chris paul (though i hope to god that's what was required of them).

paul - bryant - peace - [free agent] - okafor would certainly be less scary, and them losing bynum would take them out of the dwight sweepstakes.  but i just don't see it happening.

more likely the lakers will be forced to give up more future picks and take back either ariza or okafor.  which might actually be worse than the first deal in the short term in terms of making the lakers better.  okafor / bynum obviously not as good offensively but the lakers would still be very big and defensively imposing up front.

Dunno, if they end up shipping both Bynum and Odom and take Okafor in exchange, it's pretty much a wash in the short run.

Also, it may explain why the Hornets are looking to add a stop-gap solution at C on the cheap in JO.

P.S. It'll make me chuckle if they end up shipping Odom out of town. I think we're overdue for a bit of drama in that reality show.

bleh.  there's no doubt the lakers would get better in that trade.  i think i prefer the first deal when the lakers didn't have a starting power forward yet (and would probably have to take a guy like carl landry) and metta world peace was their only small forward.
