Rumor that he won't report to Hornets tomorrow.
Interesting. Well apparently NBA owners veto trades all the time... Danny Ainge could agree to trade Big Al, etc for Kevin Garnett, but then Wyc Groesbeck has to accept it. In this instance, the "owner" is the NBA. So in reality the owner of the Hornets decided against the trade... but since the NBA owns the Hornets it reads like, "The NBA declined the trade" and everyone flips their lid.
The problem seems to be the relationship between the Hornets management and ownership which is obviously different than Danny Ainge and Wyc Groesbeck. And I guess on top of that, the problem is the media for jumping the gun. Usually there are internal discussions between ownership and the GM on who they are targeting... for example, we can assume Ainge and Wyc are currently both on the same page in regards to trading Rondo for CP3... but in this instance because it's an "NBA owned team", I have feelings the problem is the communication between Dell Demps and whoever is the default "ownership" entity from the NBA's side (David Stern?).... Severely doubt that Demps and Stern had "internal" discussions beforehand about whether the package of Odom, Kevin Martin and Scola would be "enough". So unfortunately it's a process error... As opposed to having internal discussions with ownership, Dell Demps is basically out there by himself coming up with trade proposals... and then it's up to the NBA on whether or not they want to accept it.
In other words... I don't think CP can do crap about this... and I'd blame the media for causing this.
PS... everything I just said is just how I'm currently viewing the situation. I may be way off.
