All right, rip away

San Antonio Spurs:
PG: Russell Westbrook
SG: Arron Affalo
SF: Dorrell Wright
PF: Carlos Boozer
C:  Demarcus Cousins

Love the UCLA backcourt. Always been a big fan of Afflalo. They will harass the living hell out of most backcourts.

I'm lukewarm on 3-5. Cousins is a loaded gun, it's just a question of where he's pointed when he goes off. I've never liked Boozer much: good stats, but when the games don't count much. Wright's numbers were inflated being on that GState team, but he's a serviceable wing that can knock down the open 3. Question is whether he'll have the opportunity to do so with Westbrook, Boozer, and Cousins wanting their shots too.

Hows this team:

pg: Conoly Jr/K Irving
SG:Rip Hamilton
sF:Durant
PF:Scola
C:Perkins

thoughts??

I think you've got a real nice foundation, but I'd like to see you look to target a defensive SG (and consider moving Hamilton to the bench), and a mobile PF or C because Scola and Perk could struggle against the pick and roll.

A tremendously solid team. You already know I love your backcourt and still believe Duncan has one more "wow" year in him, especially if its lockout shortened. Deng had a bounce back year. I like Gibson starting better as Monroe will have to play some center alongside Gibson so you can limit TD's minutes.

Really like this team.

Very good team and one of the better back courts in the game. Hibbert has really come farther than I ever thought he would as a pro and I'm skeptical that we just didn't see Humphries career year and that he will just disappear into reality television/NBA/I also did Kim K. lore. If Prince's back can hold out again, he's a major league player with championship experience.

Really like this team though a more athletic and active center offensively would have made you incredible.

PG: to be determined
SG: Jason Richardson
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Udonis Haslem
C:  Joakim Noah

Feel free to submit to me *via PM* your suggestion for PG from those players still left on the board. I have a couple in mind, but am curious to hear what others think (and why).

im not really a big haslem fan.  I really like the way noah plays and hustles..he brings energy to your lineup. and i think j-rich and melo is a good scoring duo. it will be interesting to see what you do at pg and bench.

Solid spacing on the floor for Westbrook.  Boozer should give him a good low post player for a change.  It's all up to Cousins.

Needs more defense in the frontcourt though.

This to me is a poor man's Bulls team from this year. Not bad, but not a contender. Again who is the leader on this team? Not sure Russ is ready for that burden and it's certainly not Boozer. You need a strong veteran now.

Alright, here goes:

PG: Ty Lawson, Baron Davis (maybe not in that order. For questions, see my treatise on BDiddy in the draft thread).
SG: Stephen Jackson
SF: Nicolas Batum
PF: Dirk Nowitzki
C: DeAndre Jordan, Marcus Camby

Start Baron and Camby. Baron will be engaged, and I think he'll have a blast on this team.

If Lawson can play SG (I have no idea, I defer to SO's judgment on that), I like the depth and versatility of this roster.

Agreed. Start Baron and Camby but lower their minutes. Baron will be a great pickup if he is starting. When engaged he's a monster for Pgs to defend with that size and handle. Also the dude bring s a swagger that you have to have in someone you are pairing with Dirk. Split up Camby and Deandre's minutes evenly but let Camby start otherwise I think he is unhappy.

Also Lawson as a SG is horrible. Move Baron over like Denver did with Billups. Lawson's quickness demands that he has the ball in his hands as much as possible so he can penetrate and create.

Stephen Jackson and Baron are great options together to have by Dirk. They were great in GS together. If Camby and Baron are starting this is my second favorite team behind the Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph team.

After looking this team up and down I think this is a very well-balanced team.  I mean you've got one of the 3-5 guys in the NBA who can carry an offense all by himself no matter who is defending him (no matter how many GMs here will say that their guy can) with Scola who can make things happen on offense too and two guards who at least aren't liabilities on offense.  You won't have a problem with any players not getting enough touches and Durant can legit carry an offense by himself.  But you gotta get another offensive firecracker off the bench to help a little and for when he subs out.  Maybe a backup PG who can really score and/or distribute.  I see 3 of them that could be starters elsewhere and would fit your team well.  While Irving was good value, I'm not sure he'd bring much to this team as a rookie next year in limited minutes.  At least not compared to players available.

Then you have solid defenders at 3 positions, a SG who I think is declining but still can defend OK, and a SF who unfortunately cant defend.

You can rebound very well.

PG: Kyle Lowry
SG:?
SF: Derrick Williams
PF: Amar'e Stoudemire
C: Andrew Bogut
I formidable front court pairing as I believe Bogut to be a top 4 center in this leage and Amare is an offensive stud. I think Williams will be a very good player eventually but like Evan Turner last year will struggle out of the gates.

I don't know what to make of Lowry. Career backup that seemed destined for role player status forever, is give his shot and does well. Can he sustain that? is he that good? Prove it to me year for him.

Bogut  and Amare is great but is Bogut a number 2 on a contender? Can he stay healthy? If so that is nice, but Williams is a reach. So unproven at this point. Is he Beasley like where he just cant seem to be efficient? Will be able to get his points against the top guys in the NBA as he has to guard them on the other end? I think Fould trouble could be a problem for this kid if he is asked to guard 3s. Lowry was too high. You need a better pick and roll guy with Amare.

Who said there was something about this that didn't quite sit with them? I share the same sentiment.

I like all of these players individually. Love Monroe, Gordon is a junior assassin, Deng is quietly a very good 3rd option. Maybe it's seeing Duncan running with a bunch of guys half his age? I don't know.

It's like Duncan is the cumin in this dish. There are other spices there, but I can't taste them, and it's bugging me.

It doesn't fit. Duncan needs to be on a veteran team. Period. That's what it is. Plus who is your crunch time go to guy? Who will take over the game when it's needed? I don't see Gordon as that guy. Duncan is not that guy anymore. Manu and Tony have been handed that torch.

Memphis Grizzlies

PG: Derrick Rose
SG: Ray Allen
SF: Tayshaun Prince
PF: Kris Humphries
C:  Roy Hibbert

To compare to the current Bulls, this is a downgrade in the frontcourt. We keep waiting for Hibbert, and I don't know if he'll ever arrive. No scoring from Humphries, but he does rebound and get after it.

I have always loved Prince's game, and Ray is the best there is. No problems with the wings.

Unless there's a scoring big off the bench, I think Rose still has to do most of the lifting, and it'll wear him down.

I don't get Humphries. He was on a horrible team and he is the only rebounder on the team. This is just Derrick Rose going one on one and kicking out to Ray Allen. Hibbert is good but I think he needs a better PF that he compliments to play with. Great backcourt though. Should be a playoff team.

This team lacks athleticism, but KD is a G. Perk and Scola do not move their feet that well. I think this team gets torched by a good frontcourt combo. The Blazers are the worst matchup for them. I love the Hamilton pickup. He will be fresh from all the time off and he was never hurt. Great value for a guy who can shoot from anywhere. Him and Ray Allen are becoming the last of their kind. Well there is Kevin Martin... How will Perk look next year also?
