Even though he was playing with all the new guys, within the first two minutes of Arroyo's Celtics career, it looked like he is the best backup PG they've had in the past 4 years.

It could really really help.
Completely agree.  The first time since the arrival of Ray and KG that we've had a true PG to back up Rondo, and it showed immediately.  And as the OP said, it was refreshing to see.  Lord, what a disaster Bradley is trying to play the point.  They should give up on that project entirely and concentrate on making him the best 2 guard he can be.

Yes.. It will be great to see delonte back from injurie

Agreed.

Arroyo has always been more flash than substance.

Time will tell.  Plus if you guys haven't noticed.  Delonte has played most of his minutes when has played as the back up 2 and not as the PG.  There has only been one or 2 games (he has only played a few I know and only because of injury or need) where he was the primary ball handler and play maker when he was on the floor.  For some reason that is the way Doc has used him this year.  So we could see Delonte and Carlos on the floor together with Carlos setting the table.

He hasn't played a lot, but I thought he'd played more pg than sg.

Time will tell what? What are the next 2 months going to tell that the last 10 years didn't?

Delonte has been used at the 1 by Doc for most of his minutes. Actually I think all of them after he came back after the wrist injury were at the 1.

  • Rondo = Good
I'm interested to see Arroyo and Delonte play together, although that might make us too small in the backcourt.

Arroyo's primary weakness is his defense.  Aside from that, he's a really solid player.  It's interesting how Danny has added a lot of players recently that give us a lot more on offense but are net defensive liabilities.

I just want to see Bradley get some minutes as the shooting guard next to a pure point guard.

Though he brought in Sasha, tried for Corey Brewer  and has some defensive potential in Green.

This might be premature, but I've kinda given up on him. That kid won't ever be more than a 3rd stringer at best...

people laughed at me when I said it before, but I'm pretty sure Gabe Pruitt was a way better player, and he's in the D league now.

I do too.  But in Portland.  He is not ready for the NBA.

meh...Delonte aka "Mr. Glass". Has never been a really reliable PG. It's nice to have him back but I like the idea of the 2 playing in tandem as Arroyo is a much better ballhandler than West and neither are great defensively so you don't lose much there. You hopefully just get better offense and playmaking.

It would have been more refreshing if he wasn't playing with Rondo most of the time. I thought the idea was to cut Rondo's minutes, yet he still played 42 minutes. I understand he has to learn the plays, but Rondo still looked beat to me.
Hopefully next game he'll actually play the point and give Rondo some much need rest.

There was a choice. He could have played Bradley at the 2 like he said he was going to. I believe 10 minutes of Bradley couldn't have been any worse than over playing Rondo, who had a pretty crappy game anyway.

No choice since both West and Wafer are out.

Thank you for this thread. I like to see someone who can actually handle the ball out there... Too many House, Nate, Bradley times... and even before the big three... DWest is not a PG... So I think you'll have to go back to Payton...? Jesus that was a long time ago.

Having a capable backup will make a world of difference in Rondo's game.  He has been overused for too many games, over played for too many games.  Rondo is the most active player on the team and needs/deserves to have fewer minutes so that he won't have to pace himself so much.  Now we have a capable backup for each position...a luxury we havan't had for years.  When Doc gets a rotation set we will be fine.

A lot of people said the same thing about DeAndre Jordan who was drafted when he was 19 too. How's that workin out?
