How long has it been  since we had an actual backup pg? It's nice to see someone that can actually dribble across the floor and run plays out there, I got so used to have Nate Robinson and Eddie House types being our backup pg that I completely forgot what it was like having a competent backup. I'm amazed that he looked so comfortable out there in his first game, and I think he was a great signing.

It would have been more refreshing if he wasn't playing with Rondo most of the time. I thought the idea was to cut Rondo's minutes, yet he still played 42 minutes. I understand he has to learn the plays, but Rondo still looked beat to me.
Hopefully next game he'll actually play the point and give Rondo some much need rest.

Rondo was probably out there at the same time so that Arroyo could learn the plays from him. Maybe Doc wanted Arroyo to get a feel for how Rondo and the rest of the team run through plays.  I'm sure that once he gets the plays down, Rondo won't be in as much when Arroyo is, which in turn will cut Rondo's minutes.

From what Doc said, he was surprised that Arroyo knew the plays.  And I don't see how much he could learn from Rondo the way he was playing last night.  Just awful. :(

I thought Arroyo should have played with the starters a bit last night and give Rondo some time on the bench where he belonged much of the game.

Amen!  He was one of the highlights from last night.  After seeing Bradley on the court the past few games, I grew very concerned about the backup PG spot.

I personally felt that Arroyo looked better last night than Delonte does most nights.  He made some great passes, got a key rebound or two, played good defense, and minimized his turnovers.  Great signing that I think is going to payoff.

Arroyo looked good, but I'd prefer West out there.  I thought he was going to play last night.

I agree he was a steal for all the reasons mentioned in this thread.  One mans trash is another mans treasure.  I like what he brings to our team.

Boy, he was impressive last night. Showed solid leadership, made good decisions, and played decent defensive. I’ll take it!

No choice since both West and Wafer are out.

There was at least one play in the first half when Green had to motion to Carlos to show him what he was supposed to do on offense. He'll take a little time getting used to things.

Agreed.

Arroyo has always been more flash than substance.

Even though he was playing with all the new guys, within the first two minutes of Arroyo's Celtics career, it looked like he is the best backup PG they've had in the past 4 years.

It could really really help.

I dont at all. West is a great hustle guy but he cant run the offense for crap. Arroyo just looks completely natural out there and its great to have that luxury.

Arroyo coming to the celtics is going to move west to the sg position , the one i see loosing minutes is wafer if arroyo keeps playing the way he did last night i really doubt that doc is going to keep him on the bench , so when west come back be ready to see alot of carlos at the point with west at the 2
