I know that Arroyo provides depth but frankly, I don't want him to be anything more than the 3rd string PG once Delonte returns.

meh...Delonte aka "Mr. Glass". Has never been a really reliable PG. It's nice to have him back but I like the idea of the 2 playing in tandem as Arroyo is a much better ballhandler than West and neither are great defensively so you don't lose much there. You hopefully just get better offense and playmaking.

West may not be a great defender but in the few games he has played, at times he has defended better than RR! So West can give you nice offense and good D.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Delonte is a multi talented player who can play some point, but he is really not a "point guard".  Delonte can back up either Rondo or Ray Allen, and can play with Arroyo...they have both been starters on very good teams.  They both have to adapt to new team mates, learn the timing and spacing of new team mates.  They are both savvy vets, but still young enough to be around for a few years, for a cheap price.  I don't see any downside to these new moves.

I just want to see Bradley get some minutes as the shooting guard next to a pure point guard.

This might be premature, but I've kinda given up on him. That kid won't ever be more than a 3rd stringer at best...

people laughed at me when I said it before, but I'm pretty sure Gabe Pruitt was a way better player, and he's in the D league now.

A lot of people said the same thing about DeAndre Jordan who was drafted when he was 19 too. How's that workin out?

Huh? Sweet unadulterated use of the straw man fallacy. I said absolutely NOTHING about Deandre Jordan.

Thanks for making this thread dumber though, how's that working out?

Same, but since we can't count on West staying healthy. That means that Arroyo is a necessity.

Sorry buck but you are way off here.  Delonte is an outstanding defensive player.  Always has been.

I deff loved seeing Arroyo get some time, I thought he played fairly well last night. He looked extremely comfortable out there and I liked how professional his press-conferences were.

You can tell almost immediately that Arroyo is a gamer. He seemed to relish the big "moments" of last night's games and really showed alot of emotion out there.

He is like Nate Robinson as far as playing with emotion except he plays under control.

Its not a sure thing that he will have a playoff role on this team but I can see him coming on at somepoint in the run and making a big impact (think Eddie House in 07-08)

Huh?? Maybe you're thinking of David West, or Mario West , or some other West but I'm not off at all. Delonte has always lacked poor lateral footspeed. His first go around here he was abused with almost turnstyle-esque regularity and not all that much has changed though he is now a smarter defender. Delonte is many things but "great" defender has NEVER been one of them. He hustles. He's pretty smart so he uses that to his advantage but to try to put him in Rondo's category defensively is about as laughable as it gets.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

Why should we settle for him being a backup?  He's already a better shooter and has better fundamentals than Rondo.  He's a better fit beside the "big three", while Rondo could be a spark plug off the bench for us.  In the off-season, we could look to trade Rondo for a better fit, like Mo Williams or Ray Felton.

(Even saying that sarcastically hurts.  Vomit.  I do like the Arroyo signing, though.)

I just want to see Bradley get some minutes as the shooting guard next to a pure point guard.

I do too.  But in Portland.  He is not ready for the NBA.

His defense is NBA-ready.  He needs to be put in situations where his contribution on offense consists of catch-and-shoot jumpers.  The main reason to send him to the D-League is for him to try and development NBA three-point range.  Instead of trying to turn him into a point guard, they should try to turn him into Ben Gordon with potential lockdown defense that is effective even against players who are a few inches taller.

I agree that he doesn't need the PG experiment, just to learn to score as a 2.

Simply not true.  I know great is often thrown around very loosely but I know what I see.  And I also am familiar with the scouting report, both of which say he is at minimum a very good defender.

I think Arroyo may make West the odd man out at PG.  But he is most likely a stop gap.  West can then be moved to SG sending Von Wafer to the deep end of the bench.  He played two guard in college and isn't a bad shot.  West is a combo guard.  He can play point but not really create shots.  What I like best about him is his grit and hustle.  I just wish he could stay healthy.

Bradley is a rookie, he is a good defender, I concur but he still gets a lot of those Rookie fouls.  He is a little raw in terms of his offensive skills.  I think he came out too early and is going to be a late bloomer but we could have something in a year or two.  He really isn't a PG though and seems to have more SG instincts.

For this year Arroyo is better presently than either of these two.  West can't stay on the court and Bradley is a rook.
