Quinn would be the pick now.

McCourty and Arrington played pretty well for the entire season. Bodden is coming back and he was our #1 the year before. So we have 3 starting caliber corners. I personally thing Butler will develop and become better so I think we're stocked at corner now.

What we need is someone to rush the passer so our corners aren't in coverage forever.

I understand the Patriots often pick the best player available but that is when they sit at there spot. When they decide to move up they usually grab a player they need (Ty Warren, Jerod Mayo being the last two).

Well, I think they actually moved down to pick Mayo, but I agree with the premise. 

I also think the Pats have too many picks right now, and a shortage of elite players.  I really think they are going to move up.  To pinpoint the player is tough, but I think this is going to be when they will move up for a true, impact player, most likely in the defensive front 7.

I agree with this, its funny though, on ESPN this morning they were saying the pats would trade up to take Cameron Jordan, then other mock drafts have him available at 17!

I'm not really feeling the Cameron Jordan connection.  I feel like there has been too much smoke there, and he is a guy who has really shot up draft boards after the season.  Call it a hunch, but I just don't see the Pats taking him. 

I'm not emamored with guys like Watt, Bowers, or Jordan at all.  Not with a 1st rounder.  I just think there is a lot of risk at stake with guys like this.  Especially when you run a 3-4 defense. 

I'd love to see them address OL in the first and if that Peterson scenario were to come to fruition, I'd be down with that too. 

I understand why you would say there is a lot of risk with Bowers but I don't understand why Watt or Jordan are risks? The Patriots in general have a good history of drafting defensive lineman early in the draft. Jordan played 3-4 end in college so I say he's the least risk when it comes to the position. Watt looks like a beast, but since he is not used to playing the two gap style the Patriots play he is more of a risk than Jordan, but I believe he has better upside.

If we have the opportunity with our 17 pick I want them to select one of these two.

Its a position that I feel is an absolute crapshoot when it comes to the draft.  I'm not a fan of these projected hybrid types that come out of college.  I believe its an extremely risky proposition using 1st rounders on these guys if you look at past track records.  A lot of these guys tend to get hyped out because they're "workout warriors" and scouts drool over their athletic potential.  Then what happens, they get to the pros and they don't pan out.

Also, I'm just not that high on these particular guys and hope that Belichick goes another direction.  I believe there are safer picks to make in the 1st round.

I'm not a fan of the hybrid types either. Jordan isn't a hybrid. He played 3-4 defensive end in college and he's going to play 3-4 end in the pros.

not sure if Ingram is that guy, and a 1st round RB isn't a guaranteed fix, but man it would be nice to have a stud in the backfield

I don't know about the details, but I have heard there are some good mid-round RBs...which is part of the reason Ingram is slipping so much.  No one values RBs that much any more, because they know they can get them later, and they will just be splitting carries anyways.

From what I've seen and read he's a good runner but he can block, which is big for a running back in NE.

As for the draft, depending what it takes, I would love to trade up for Quinn, Peterson, or either Green or Jones.

I have great confidence that Bill will select the best guy available. When he drafted McCourty last year, most were very skeptical. That was a tremendous pick.  Same with Logan Mankins a few years ago.  BB filters out all the media hype by guys and makes his own judgments, which are usually very sound.

Yeah, I think Belichick gambled a bit and lost on that one.

To his credit though, I have a feeling he had no interest in giving Seymour the extension he was going to want, so keeping him around beyond that one season wasn't really an option for them.

Smarter trade for NE.  

The issue was Ty Warren missing last year.  I believe he chose to attend college instead of rehabbing/surgery on his hip, ence the year on the DL.  Had he been active, we would not have been talking so much about the former #93, who, BTW, was my favorite player and still is one of my faves.  

Picking 17 allows them to probably spin the 28 for a pick next year.  Then they turn right around and pick 33rd anyway.  I just read this on line, Pats will pick six times (if they keep them) before the JETS make their second pick.
