My dream pats draft, if they pick where they are currently sitting, which of course will not happen.
6 picks in the first 3 rounds. I'd like a rushing OLB, a DL, two OL, a CB, and a WR.
Pick 17 = Julio Jones, he is projected to be available right around this area. I think the guy is an absolute beast, he's tough, he plays injured, and he would automatically step in and be our #1 WR. Not ahead of Welker, but welker plays the slot. He'd jump Tate, Branch would be opposite him #2.
#32 & #33 = Best OL and OLB available. Pouncey, Castonzo, Carimi, Justin Houston, Ijalana, Let's say we get Houston and Carimi.
#64 = OL, DL or CB, Marvin Austin (DL, UNC)
#74 = OL or CB, Rashard Carmichael ( CB, VT)
#96 = OL, Jason Pinkston (OL, Pitt)
Our offense would be unstoppable. Adding 2 stud offensive lineman just gives us depth and solidifies the talent for years to come (I really hope Mankins comes back, I think we franchise him if there's no agreement). I like BJGE and Woody at RB, we add another RB in the later rounds of the draft. TE is absolutely set for a decade with Gronk and Hernandez. And now Brady adds a premier talent in Julio Jones to stretch the field with Branch, Welker, Tate, and Price. Wow.
We get Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden back on D (These would be two huge off season pickups normally, we get them back from the IR).
DL = Wilfork, Warren, Marvin Austin, Wright, Moore, Brace
LB = Mayo, Spikes, Cunningham, Houston, Ninkovich, Fletcher, Banta Cain
CB = Mccourty, Bodden, Aarington, Butler, Carmichael
S = Chung, Meriweather, Sanders, Mcgowan
Special Teams = Mesko, Gostkowski, Katula (LS)
With our young defense getting better with age and experience, and adding more top tier talent, this team is gonna be much better in the next few years than it is right now, and that's really saying something. The future sure is bright for the Pats.
