Let me say this, KG is the most intense player in between those 94 ft lines, and shaq is supposed to be the biggest bad guy on the court also.. If you guys think any of this will carry on the court then you obviously don't know who we're putting on that floor night in and night out. I rather see them act young by being playful and bonding instead of going to a sportsbar taking shots. Everything is being done in house together, we're just lucky enough to witness it!
Let me say, I really am glad that they are having fun and bonding. That is not the point. This stuff gets out in the media. These guys are heroes and role models to a lot of young people and it doesn't always show them in their best light, as far as being someone to emulate. You may be of the school that thinks that they should not be held to a higher standard...I happen to be of the school that thinks everyone should be held to a higher standard...and sometimes we all fail but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try...
Unfortunately, I think the days of athletes being role models are behind us. In recent years, we've seen multiple professional athletes accused of murder, rape, manslaughter, gun violence, and other crimes. We've seen athletes get murdered. We've seen steroids / PED scandals, as well as other allegations of cheating (even by entire organizations). We see players behaving vulgarly, using profanity repeatedly, hitting on women constantly via twitter, cheating on their wives, etc., etc.
I wish athletes would clean up their act, as well, but I don't think it will happen. The important thing for parents to do, then, is to teach children what real role models look like, while reducing the idolization of many athletes, musicians, actors, and sadly, politicians.
