Never would have expected KG in this.
I guess team chemistry is a little more than great right now.

Become Legendary.

^Here's a video from the NBA blog 'Ball-Don't-Lie' of Nate running sprints in Shaquille O'Neal's shoes, I'm pretty sure there are at least two other random videos from the Cetics on that blog, but this video is the latest that they have aired, from maybe two or three days ago.

If anything, they seemed to be having fun. It just seemed as if at times they weren't last year, for various reasons.

Well, this year, they have Shaq - who's a character by himself. They are deeper. They are a full year removed from the KG injury.

And we have Delonte back ;D.

Don't want to make any predictions here, but this is looking like a very, very good season so far.

sorry to sound like a wet blanket, and i am highly entertained by these vids too (Nate running in Shaq's shoes is freakin' hilarious) but i hope this doesn't translate on the court. It's fun and good if it's in the locker room or in training camp, but i'm not a fan of players dancing or clowning around during the games. I don't want us to be like the embarrassing Cavs of last year who would dance on the sideline during blowouts. Seems disrespectful. But that's just me.

I agree, LilRip.  If they start that stuff, I will be disappointed.

Yes the videos are representative of how they will practice and play.  Of course there is the fact that most of the important players have been in the league since the mid 90's and have families but, maybe they will disregard all that and dance around and make fools of themselves when the games start.

Oh and Doc ' we got to do this together!!!!!' Rivers will allow it.

Here are some quotes on the subject:

Quote
"We're a loose, focused, hard-working group," said Pierce. "A lot of people say, 'They went down [to Newport] to have fun and goofed around.' But that's not necessarily the case. We got in a lot of good work and I think Doc was pleased with the work we got in. We really got better down there and we're taking it all in stride. There's a time and a place for everything and I think that we're having a good balance between the two. We know when to have our fun, but we know when to buckle down when it's time to focus."

Rivers said as long as his team's shenanigans don't upset anyone, he's fine with his players balancing work and play.

"I could really care less, they're serious in practice," said Rivers. "After that, they're grown men, I don't care how they act. If they wanna have fun or embarrass themselves, or do whatever they want to do, I really don't care. The only rule I always have is called the respect rule. If anything is getting where to disrespecting someone to point where problem, then it's a problem. They enjoy each other. I'm sure they'll cross the line at some point ... they'll get it. That's fine."

Celtics players might have toed that line Monday when Nate Robinson posted a locker room Halloween dance video that was pulled soon after. While some of the language and actions in that video might have been a bit profane, most of what Robinson and Co. have produced this preseason has been innocuous (hop HERE for our story from last week).

Maybe Kevin Garnett summed it up best in Newport noting, "Chemistry's been very good, needless to say. It's a [expletive] zoo around here, but it's all good, we're getting some work done."

The Celtics seem refreshed after a grueling 2009-10 season and the chemistry being forged has everyone in that locker room excited for the potential this season. Just ask Pierce.

"I'm excited about the season, truthfully," Pierce said Monday. "There's an energy here. Something that each and every day, you get that feeling. I can't explain it. I told y'all on [Media Day] about it and it's in here. I feel like something special is going to happen."

Quote
"One thing that me and [Kevin Garnett] always talk about knowing that we won't be in the NBA too much longer, we just say, 'Man, these years, we gotta enjoy it,'" said Pierce. "We know when to put our hard hats on and we know how to stay focused in practice. But we want to enjoy these years, man. You don't get the opportunity to play with these type of teammates, be these guys constantly. When we [joke around], that's just us enjoying one another, stuff we can talk about when we're done playing and look back."

Quote
“Nate’s been terrific,” the coach said following yesterday’s training camp session at Salve Regina. “I thought last year Nate’s experience in the playoffs changed him as a player. Whether he was here or somewhere else, I think he’s figured out that when you’re on the floor between the lines, it is a very serious basketball game. And it takes being serious, it takes being focused and it takes execution.

“When he’s off the court, he can be Nate - and I think he’s figured that here now. And, you know, I told him last year early on that it was why he didn’t play. I said, ‘Until you figure that out, you will not play here.’ And he did. I give that credit to Nate.”

Quote
Robinson replied in tune later.

“When it’s practice time, focus on practice,” he said. “When we have our breaks, we can clown around and do our thing. When we’re back on there doing drills, working on plays, you’ve got to listen. That’s something that I’m improving on, just getting more mature. I mean, I’m 26 years old and I’m not getting any younger. It’s just something that takes time, I guess.

Quote
"Really, really loose and fun," said Ray Allen. "But we know when that has to end."

"Chemistry has been very good, needless to say," said Garnett, who later added. "It's a loose environment around here. That's until we hit the floor and all hell breaks loose."

Thanks Roy.  The thing that bothered me was the use of racial pergoritives in the dance sequence.  They should not be used by Anyone of Any race, IMO.

Nate's apparently been doing really well in camp and I think Doc and Danny want to be careful to keep the good chemistry going.  On the other hand, the Halloween dance video was taken down almost immediately.

My guess: the good cop/bad cop switch was on and this time Danny in private had them take it down, while Doc got the opportunity to defend them in public.  Pierce and KG were in on this one and there's no way they were going to get a talking down publicly.  If anything, KG and PP probably got praise for goofing with the younger guys--while it was also suggested they don't need to post everything on the Internet.
