As someone else pointed out, what about this shouldn't younger people copy?? They have on halloween masks and are dancing wow, If there was some punk rock music playing and they were jumping around with air guitars it would be okay with you?? It's apart of their culture, if this is the worst behavior the NBA had to deal with they would love it! 

I think it's a valid point of view not to want to have sports heroes dancing along to profanity and racial slurs.  Like I said, though, unfortunately I think that ship has already sailed, as many children are exposed to stuff like that on an almost daily basis.  If children know enough about computers to access Nate's video, then they've probably been exposed to a lot worse than hardcore profanity.

When I was growing up Segregation was the norm.  Segregation is wrong.  Just because "everyone" goes along with something does not make it right.  Just because "everyone" is exposed to something does not make it right.

Throwing the "N" word around is not right, no matter how many songs it is used on.  When kids are in MY house, they will not listen to that garbage.

I don't feel the need to post in this thread on this particular subject further.  If you want to know how I feel, simply reread my replies.

thanks Roy for the great quotes. I was more concerned about the respect thing actually, rather than the "bad behavior" of the players, and Doc addressed that issue.

to Assassin and some other posters, you seem to be missing the point. I'm not saying these guys will go out there and start dancing around in blowouts. I'm saying i hope they don't do that. The reason i thought of that is because this vid reminded me a lot of what the Cavs were like last year. Talented team, no doubt, but they could also be classless. And Shaq was a part of that team.

So yes, it is the right time to air my concern because the video was just posted. It wouldn't make sense if i aired my concern 2 weeks ago, or if i aired my concern when the season had already started. If the season had already started, i would've said something more definitive, such as "I don't like how they're dancing and showing up the opponent" or "I'm glad they're not dancing and showing up the opponent" depending on their actions. But instead, what i said was "i hope this doesn't translate on the court. It's fun and good if it's in the locker room or in training camp, but i'm not a fan of players dancing or clowning around during the games."

If hearing the N wors was the only thing you got out of that video then you 100% completely missed the point of the video!

My oldest son (just turned 12) reads CelticsBlog often, and when we both started watching the vid, I had to turn it off.

My son and I have talked about the N word and the history behind it, and we don't use it in our house, either.

Now as for the vid? Like I posted earlier - I think this is good fun for them. I wish that it hadn't made it to the blog for the world to see, but as long as it stays in the locker room and they don't do this stuff (a la Lebron and Cavs last year), then it's all good.

My son is well aware of KG's potty mouth, but still loves his fire and intensity. I've made it a point to let my son know that these players are not perfect, but they are still great and have many traits that he can use as he plays sports.

My son (or I) aren't kicking KG to the curb anytime soon.

come on guys these are personal cellphone recorded locker room vids anythig can go on behind them doors, its not a good idea to have your son watch anyway. i mean if we cant post or watch vids of this celtic team because there is a n word in the background over a song or the occasional s word in a interview than thatd be ridiculous. lets grow some thicker skin.

I respect your opinion, and hear what you are saying I even agree...but honestly what it all boils down to for me is just guys having fun.

I just don't see this as anything more or anything less it just is what it is a moment in time and I like it.  (Other then the fact I don't think the music is "work" appropriate.)

I certainly know that that's a word that may stay in the English language forever. I know that many may use the word as a term of endearment.

I'm no stranger to coarse language. When I served in the Navy in the late 80's and 90's, it was common for folks to "Cuss like a Sailor."

Rev Jesse Jackson (please hear me out) started a drive a few years ago to "bury" the word from the English Language. Of course, this was more symbolic than anything else, but I respected the man because of it.

I know Jesse Jackson isn't perfect, but the man has done much good in the world.

I am glad to see our team having fun - they need this after last year's tenseness. But The N word usage wasn't cool.

Like I told my son: The N word isn't cool, but I love to see our team having fun this year. From that point, I'm glad the OP posted it here. But even from the player's standpoint, I think they should be aware of what's making it to the media.

I think we all know about this after Lebron's feeble attempt to inject Race into his newfound "Global Dislike."

And I'm glad for it. The reaction to him will prevent any successors from doing anymore "Decisions", hopefully.

Let me clarify my last post - In retrospect, I give some blame to the the media for presenting Lebron that "Race" question. Looking back, that was a bullet no one could've dodged.

But anyway - back to the topic. I'm glad our players are having fun. I hope they take the fun out of MIA on Oct26.

Just to clarify for those who might not have understood.  I know exactly what LilRip was saying and I agree.  I just knew that some people would not like the video for various reasons.

My initial response was more trying to prevent the...this could be the Cavs all over again responses (Thanks to Roy again for his great post with all the info on the work just not the play the Celts are doing TP) but that is what ended up happening anyways.

I doubt we will see anything like this until June when we have the trophy in hand.

IMHO, if you have to act your age ALL the time, your life is gonna suck. That's just how I feel. God bless em for enjoying themselves, having fun with each other and being loose. I knew this was gonna be a cast of characters when this group was put together. But I am not at all nervous about it translating to the floor. In fact I see a lot of blowout wins by a focused C's team this year.

That said...that song was terrible. Shaq playing with Baby's moobs was worse.
