Clover, I think you are probably right, at least I hope so.  And I AM glad that the established "stars" are bonding with the younger players.

sorry to sound like a wet blanket, and i am highly entertained by these vids too (Nate running in Shaq's shoes is freakin' hilarious) but i hope this doesn't translate on the court. It's fun and good if it's in the locker room or in training camp, but i'm not a fan of players dancing or clowning around during the games. I don't want us to be like the embarrassing Cavs of last year who would dance on the sideline during blowouts. Seems disrespectful. But that's just me.

I agree, LilRip.  If they start that stuff, I will be disappointed.

Calm down guys...waaaaay to early to get to even bring this up.  This to me is very refreshing to see.
You are wrong, IMO, the time to bring it up is when it is happening.

Yeah...when we are in the preseason and guys are trying to get to know each other and form a chemistry, before the long season ahead of us?   :-\

Thanks Roy.  The thing that bothered me was the use of racial pergoritives in the dance sequence.  They should not be used by Anyone of Any race, IMO.

Now this I can agree with you on.  It is not like they were out on the town they were in the work place playing that music.

But I have to say if me and my co-workers played that song and starting dancing around in the workplace...HR would be the least of our worries.

P.S. I do have to add I play that song in my car all the time lol.

I agree with you, but I think there's a big difference between clowning around with teammates in training camp and showing up opponents during a game.  I'm guessing stuff like what we're seeing happens at most training camps where the team has decent chemistry.

Hate to say it (in some ways), but I think Rasheed being here vs. not being here is part of the difference in locker room chemistry / tone being set by the team early on.

Rasheed just brought a different attitude to the team, and I think it had a large effect on the way they approached the regular season and got along with one another.  Shaq (and Delonte, and Jermaine, Nate etc) bring their own collective vibe, and I think it's a much more fun, comrade-ish kind of vibe.

Roy's post already put most fears (for those who may have had some) to bed.

As I said before this IS entertaining and I am entertained.

Let me say this, KG is the most intense player in between those 94 ft lines, and shaq is supposed to be the biggest bad guy on the court also.. If you guys think any of this will carry on the court then you obviously don't know who we're putting on that floor night in and night out. I rather see them act young by being playful and bonding instead of going to a sportsbar taking shots. Everything is being done in house together, we're just lucky enough to witness it!

Let me say, I really am glad that they are having fun and bonding.  That is not the point.  This stuff gets out in the media.  These guys are heroes and role models to a lot of young people and it doesn't always show them in their best light, as far as being someone to emulate.  You may be of the school that thinks that they should not be held to a higher standard...I happen to be of the school that thinks everyone should be held to a higher standard...and sometimes we all fail but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try...

Your point would make so much sense if that was Ron artest, JR Smith, AI, and Steven Jackson in that video... All of these guys are considered good guys but once again do you realize who your talking about? Mr tell me how my *** taste, & KG curses 24/7 if you think they cared about perception then they wouldn't be the players who we come to love today. These are actually the GOOD GUYS of the Nba

What are they doing that people shouldn't emulate?  Because if you mean listening to explicit rap music, I have some bad news for you about the majority of young people, and NBA fans in particular.

Unfortunately, I think the days of athletes being role models are behind us.  In recent years, we've seen multiple professional athletes accused of murder, rape, manslaughter, gun violence, and other crimes.  We've seen athletes get murdered.  We've seen steroids / PED scandals, as well as other allegations of cheating (even by entire organizations).  We see players behaving vulgarly, using profanity repeatedly, hitting on women constantly via twitter, cheating on their wives, etc., etc.

I wish athletes would clean up their act, as well, but I don't think it will happen.  The important thing for parents to do, then, is to teach children what real role models look like, while reducing the idolization of many athletes, musicians, actors, and sadly, politicians.

???  I am not the last word on good taste by any means, and just because I like someone does not mean I have to approve of everything he or she does.  Of course I realize who I am talking about.  If all this silly side stuff (bad language in particular) is 100% ok with you, I don't think I am the one with the perception problem.  But lets just say you have your standards, and I have mine, and leave it at that.

As someone else pointed out, what about this shouldn't younger people copy?? They have on halloween masks and are dancing wow, If there was some punk rock music playing and they were jumping around with air guitars it would be okay with you?? It's apart of their culture, if this is the worst behavior the NBA had to deal with they would love it!

Bad language does not necessarily = bad behavior.

Terrible music, though  ;D
