New lineup for Sacramento:

Boozer / Ilgauskas
Lewis / Bargnani / Hansborough
Jefferson / (Garcia) / Jeffries
Lee / Garcia
Rose

A Courtney Lee + Richard Jefferson + Rashard Lewis trio is going to get killed on the backboards. Bargnani as a backup big and F.Gracia (decent SG, very poor SF = rebounding) as the main backup wing are also very poor rebounders.

Defensively, the team has tightened up some but Boozer at center without someone who can protect the rim alongside him is still a weakness. I'm thinking somewhere around 20th league wide in defense.

Offensively, the team should still be up near the top of the table. Rashard at the four with Rose running point and Boozer as the sole inside presence. Those there will be very effective. Courtney Lee and Fransisco Garcia will be provide a nice supporting cast. Bargnani and Big Z will further improve the offense. Jefferson won't but there is a huge amount of talent offensive outside of him.

I'm thinking around 45 wins.

as it stands now this is a 35-40 win team because boozer is not a center and that bench needs a lot of work.
Pick 2 Heat:
Pg: Jennings/Vasquez
Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams
PF: Bosh/Humphries
C: B. Lopez/Dalembert/Anthony

You know, I named seven guys who are all in conference. LeBron, Kobe, Dirk, Melo, DWade, KD, and Joe Johnson. If any of those guys get hurt their teams will be hurt just as much as if my star players get hurt. So I really think that argument can be used against any team.

So worrying about what the team is like when healthy. Yup. You guys hit my weaknesses right squarely on the nose. Young but talented wings that need to prove it and a lack of depth at center, though Haslem can, does, and has played center and done well at it.

I will be addressing the center position before we hit voting.

As for the SFs, I might have to roll the dice with what I have though we will see.

But how many of them have had the same recent injury issues as your top two guys?  (Not to mention those guys are more talented)
Well Manu's recent injury problem will be a year and a half old when the season starts. Last we saw Manu he was pumping in 19 PPG, 6 APG, 2.6 SPG and 4 RPG over ten games in the playoffs.

He also, with the exception of the year he was hurt with his ankle problems and missed 37 games, has averaged 72 games a season for the other 7 years he's been in the league. That's pretty dependable.

Bynum, well you got me there. When healthy he is a top 4 center in this league. I hoping that the injury problems are behind him and that since he's only 22 years old, will bounce back and have some great healthy years ahead of him.

Boozer spent roughly the same amount of time at center as he did at power forward last season, and handled himself well there.

Regarding the bench...  Yeah, it's not great, but there wasn't much to work with.

I'll also say that there's no way this team only wins 35 games, as flawed as it is.

In the West, that team should be good enough to garner a playoff berth.  Not sure how much (if any) damage they would do in the playoffs.  Could very well hinge on the 1st round opponent.

DC Boxers .... for now

Starters:

C: Andrew Bynum
PF: Luis Scola
SF: Wilson Chandler
SG: Manu Ginobili
PG: Raymond Felton

Bench:

Udonis Haslem - PF/C
Donte Green - SF/PF
Chase Budinger - SF
Leandro Barbosa - SG/PG
Jerryd Bayless - PG

I love the team defense, team rebounding, shooting and scoring off the bench, ability to put out a running unit that is fast, long and athletic.

I'm hoping Eastern Conference playoff bound and going deep but the EC is loaded with a lot of good teams, so we will see. Match ups will be everything in the EC playoffs with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Joe Johnson and Kevin Durant all in the Eastern Conference. Sadly, none of those guys are Boxers

Obviously, Nick, its probably already been reiterated to you a thousand times that injuries are your biggest concern.  I really like the Scola/Bynum pairing if Bynum is healthy.  That's a pretty strong frontcourt you have going.  I might not be as high on Chandler as some on this board are but I actually think he can fit in as a starter with the way this starting five is constructed.  Love Manu.  The guy can flat out play when healthy.  Felton is another guy I really don't like but he's definitely serviable as your PG.

This team should be a playoff team in the East barring catastrophic injuries.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
So now, the nearly completed Chicago Bulls:

Brandon Jennings/Eric Maynor
Mike Miller/Von Wafer
LeBron James/Tony Allen
Ersan Ilyasova/Louis Amundson
Joakim Noah/Kyrylo Fesenko

Waitin' til February: Micheal Redd

How do you guys feel about this? I play in a division with Kobe Bryant, so despite some strong offers I've held on to Tony Allen with white knuckles. I added Von Wafer for some scoring punch during the season, and Michael Redd for some veteran presence during the last season/post season run. I feel like my team is better than either of the Cleveland teams the last 2 years, and I still have LeBron James.

Lets hear it.

I'll spare you the "what might have beens".  I think this is a very strong team.  Your bench is pretty bad, I think, especially at the big man positions, but I think Lebron's play will elevate those around him.  I think you're looking at a team fairly similar to the "real" Cavs were last season.

I'm not sure how I feel about the D'Antoni pick.  Others seem to like it a lot, but I wonder how a team that has several offensively-deficient players in its rotation is going to fare with a defensively-deficient coach.

So Far I think my Starting 5 is one of the best in the game.  One of the overlooked parts of my team is that we are one of the tallest in the league with two 7footers, a 6'9 sf, 6'7 sg and 6'4 PG.  Which will cause problems for opposing offenses.

I also think that the bench is getting overlooked.  We have a starting pg that running the second unit as well as a sg and sf that started a combined 24 games in the playoffs this season.

We have a promising young PF who is coming  off an injury plagued season but is a freak of an athlete who blocks shots and rebounds.  Needless to say we will ease him into the rotation this year with Turiaf, Gortat, and Dirk seeing the bulk of the minutes

Turiaf is another guy who started last season and who is set to start for the knicks this year.  hes got a motor that never quits and is a plus defender at both the 4 and 5.

I would make two changes to your depth chart

Ebanks should play ahead of Jason Kapono. His strong defense and rebounding outweighs Kapono's quality perimeter shooting and his offensive limitations are less damaging to your team than Kapono's limitations defensively and on the boards.

Also, I'd move Humphries ahead of Juwan Howard. Humphries is the better defender and a vastly superior rebounder (11 rebounds per 36 minutes vs 7.5 for Howard). The rebounding alone gives Humphries far more value than Howard.

Humphries is also the better offensive player; better in transition, better on the glass, better on pick and rolls and a better cutter going to the rim. Howard makes less dumb decisions offensively but Humphries advantages more than make up for that.

D'Antoni is never going to play Fesenko.

Too limited, too many dumb mistakes. He'll drive D'Antoni nuts.

Excellent team, Rondo.  The only major issue I have with your team is that it's almost 100% perimeter oriented.  Kidd, Hamilton, Prince, and Dirk are all jump shooters, and Gortat isn't much of a scorer at all.  I think that this makes your team easier to defend.  I'd love to see you somehow find a great slasher who can create his own offense.

Yea I really didnt take much time thinking about this rotation...to be honest i pry would go with what you said but would also maybe play Howard and center at times with humpries on the court. I also would probably use Kapono with rondo on the floor primarly because he opens a lot of space for shotes as would Bogut. Basically it would be situational substiutions but probably going with the roation changes WHO suggested.
