Isn't Walton expected to miss most or all of the next season do to ongoing back troubles?

JSaad, but wouldn't one or two do?

And do you really expect top level rookies to respect the Matt Bonners and Luke Waltons of the world?

Matt Bonner is more valuable to a rebuilding team a low level prospect. You have to look at it from the perspective of a young rebuilding team that is putting itself in position to collect chips. Most of the time, Bonner at the deadline would net more from a playoff team looking for an experience than a low level prospect would.

Both Bonner and Walton have at least a ring, and both have played important playoff minutes in the past. Also, Luke is the the son of Portland's greatest player. Bringing Bill back around the franchise was one of the main reason's he was drafted.

I'd heard the word "retirement" being used.

Luke Walton retiring would not impact the future.

Edit.

DC Boxers .... for now

Starters:

C: Andrew Bynum
PF: Luis Scola
SF: Wilson Chandler
SG: Manu Ginobili
PG: Raymond Felton

Bench:

Udonis Haslem - PF/C
Donte Green - SF/PF
Chase Budinger - SF
Leandro Barbosa - SG/PG
Jerryd Bayless - PG

I love the team defense, team rebounding, shooting and scoring off the bench, ability to put out a running unit that is fast, long and athletic.

I'm hoping Eastern Conference playoff bound and going deep but the EC is loaded with a lot of good teams, so we will see. Match ups will be everything in the EC playoffs with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Joe Johnson and Kevin Durant all in the Eastern Conference. Sadly, none of those guys are Boxers

Do you guys feel Luke Walton retiring would have a tremendous impact on the future?

On your roster, perhaps. A waste of a pick. Although, as it came in the 11th, not a huge waste. Walton could be considered an assistant coach.

Still, Luke Babbit and Kevin Seraphin were picked soon after. A team of the future could have used either.

An interesting collection of PGs. None of them are well known as pure playmakers. I think Felton is fine, if you can weather the ups and downs.

A little concerned with your wing rotation. Three very young players at the SF in Budinger, Chandler, and Greene. I'm not really sure what to make of Chandler; is he a starting SF on a winning team? Some veteran consistency there would be good. If you can find one who can also play the SG, even better.

Likewise, I think at least one more PF/C type with legit size would be good. An injury to Bynum would be catastrophic to your team, I think (although that could be said for virtually any team losing its starting center). Haslem is a fine player, but he is the only other option at the 5 for you right now.

Aside from these obvious observations, I'm not sure what to make of the squad. Decent collection of players, to be sure. Don't know how they stack up against others in your division/conference.

I love the starting frontcourt. Those guys would play well with each other. Bynum would get 3-4 open dunks a game as a result of Scola's passing. Nice balance of skill and power.

Ginobili is unstoppable when healthy but I would be worried about relying on him. Barbosa isnt a bad backup but he has never been a starter.

Chandler has a nice all around game.

I am not big on Felton at all. He is adequate defensively but a very innefficient player ofensively (although he had career year last year in that regard).

I think you have some decent depth with some great role players (Haslem, Barbosa, Buddinger). I could see this team winning 43-48 games in the competitive east. However, any injury keeping Ginobili out of the lineup for an extended stretch and I think this team lands inthe lottery. He is that important to your squad.

I didnt even mention how troubling a Bynum injury would be but that guy has gotten all the bad luck out of his system...right?

My team is dramatically different than what I started it out to be. I began by drafting really young but quickly soured on the mix of players.

I love my lineup defensively now and there are some promising young players on my bench.

I know people will question JO starting at the 4 but my bigs will play in a rotation and all get big minutes. It is up to Danny Ainge to judge the matchups for the evening.

Whaddya think?

PGs: Darren Collison, Jordan Farmar
SGs: Thabo Sefolosha, DeMar DeRozan, Avery Bradley
Sfs: Caron Butler, Al Thornton
Bigs: Chris Kaman, Jermaine O'Neal, Marreese Speights, Big Baby

Deep versatile team IMO.

You know, I named seven guys who are all in conference. LeBron, Kobe, Dirk, Melo, DWade, KD, and Joe Johnson. If any of those guys get hurt their teams will be hurt just as much as if my star players get hurt. So I really think that argument can be used against any team.

So worrying about what the team is like when healthy. Yup. You guys hit my weaknesses right squarely on the nose. Young but talented wings that need to prove it and a lack of depth at center, though Haslem can, does, and has played center and done well at it.

I will be addressing the center position before we hit voting.

As for the SFs, I might have to roll the dice with what I have though we will see.

But how many of them have had the same recent injury issues as your top two guys?  (Not to mention those guys are more talented)

Collison made a big splash last year. I would like to see him play for a full season before I invest much confidence in him.

Your wings are a strength, and yet also a weakness. Your subs (DeRozan, Thornton) offer little change of look/pace for the starters they would replace (Sefolosha, Butler, respectively). I don't consider them interchangeable either: Sef and DeMar are SGs, while Thornton is a SF (Butler could play the SG, though). I love their skillsets, just wish they complemented each other better, if you get my meaning.

The frontcourt rotation is adequate, but not great. Kaman is the only true starter. I feel JO's minutes should be managed for maximum effectiveness (absolutely no more than 30 a night), so Speights and Davis need to be rotated in. Defensively, I'm not wild about that.

A young and promising squad. As such, they should have ups and downs. The health of Kaman and JO will be the key to this team's success.

I am just factoring in injury history with those 2 players. All those guys on your list with the exception of Wade for a stretch have been very dependable. Ginobili always has something wrong it seems, but maybe that is my perception because he has only had two sub 74 game seasons. But he has never played more than 77 either.

You are right though. It is not fair to evaluate a team by saying...we'll this guy will get injured so you are screwed.

I expect the same evaluation regarding JO on my squad  ;)

Like I said, your roster healthy is well balanced but lacking some depth at a couple key positions.

You are right about Collison. Rolling the dice here but I do have a two time defending championship winning backup for mentoring (yuck).

You are 100% right about my wings. I am open to moving some of those guys to get some different looks. Defesively, they are rock sold though.

Regarding my frontcourt, a rotation is exactly what i had in mind. I think their skillsets are pretty complimentary in that the right combinations can be found in the course of gameplanning. That being said I think I am higher on a couple of these guys (Speights and Kaman) than alot of other guys. I am still open to make some moves but I will defend this frontcourt to the death if need be!
