Because I hate duhon and because Gay can play the 2.

It's like you don't even study my posts.

Cliffnotes: He didn't last season and he shouldn't start now.

Not for Memphis, not with OJ Mayo there.

on KC's team I think Rudy Gay at the 2 is a much better option than Stuckey OR Duhon.

Except Stuckey, a combo-guard, and Duhon, a career backup, (and neither particularly efficient) are the reason he shouldn't be playing the 2.  Any team with the offensive dynamo Amare Stoudemire is better served by a two who can double as a playmaker or at least stretch defenses.

To wit:

Gay becomes a shooting guard who doesn't shoot well from distance (and who already settles for too many outside shots given his ability to get to the rim) and an unwilling, uncreative passer next to either border-line starter Chris Duhon or scoring point-guard Rodney Stuckey. (His assist ratio of 8.6% ranks him 56th out small forwards who played meaningful minutes.)

What's the compelling reason to move Gay from the position he's most effective at, following his bounce back season? I know he's explosive but does he make sense chasing quicker shooters around the three point line night-in and night-out? (EDIT - Also worth pointing out that he's disruptive defensively but far from disciplined.) Shouldn't he be around the rim where he's at his best?

I'm curious where people think this team would finish in the West:

Dampier / Bargnani
Boozer / Jeffries
Lewis / Jefferson
Garcia / C. Bell
Rose

Also, any of the above are available in trade.

Starting 5 is probably a top 4 seed team. I think the lack of firepower off the bench hurts a lot tho. Still a playoff team, and I think they'd have a good chance to make it to round 2.

What would your take have been on this team?

C: Shaq / Bargnani / Ratliff
PF: Boozer / (Bargnani) / Wilcox
SF: Lewis / Dudley / Jeffries
SG: Delfino / Jamal Crawford
PG: Parker / Jack
I think Delfino and Dudley are good improvements to the roster.

I would only play one of Jarrett Jack or Jamal Crawford. Not enough minutes or touches otherwise. I wouldn't play either player ahead of Delfino or Dudley. Your starting lineup already has a lot of scorers who need the ball (Parker, Boozer, Rashard, Shaq) so players like Dudley and Delfino would have more value.

Defensively, the combination of Shaq + Boozer + Bargnani is atrocious. I would expect your team to be bottom five defensively. That is a killer blow that your squad won't be able to overcome.

Again, close to .500. Probably a couple of wins over. The high power offense being offset by defensive frailties.

I can't see it.  .500 means that 50% of the time, another team would outscore this one.  I don't see that as a realistic projection.  This team as constructed is very flawed defensively, but it's also at the very top of the league offensively.

Okay, but not as good as teams you've put together in the past.  I love Big Al and Wall, and I really like Azubuike and Anderson.  Your other guys are talented, but I would have liked to see some veteran leadership; Ben Gordon and Bibby both have big mouths, but not necessarily in the "take you under their wing" sort of way.

It's Rudy Gay (SG) and Shane Battier (SF). Or Shane Battier (SG) and Rudy Gay (SF).

Positions assignments won't make much of a difference. Battier is taking the tougher defensive assignment and the best defensive wing on the other team is taking Rudy Gay.

Their roles won't change due to the position.

I'm sure I'm repeating some already skeptical remarks, but to me, that's just way too slow of a frontcourt and one that gets in the way of each other. Just cuz we're talking about KC's team here, let's use him as an example:

Between Hibbert and Al Jefferson who is covering the Stuckey-Amare pick n' roll? Rodney Stuckey is far from an elite PG, but him and Studz would combine for 60 points, easy.

What does everyone think about this team?

I like the backcourt quite a bit, though both your starters (rookie + injury) have questions. Having the Bibby/Gordon backup there is a nice touch. Your frontcourt I like less, and I think those guys get scored on quite a bit. Big Al's defensive concerns are well documented, and while Roy Hibbert is a great weakside shot blocker, he's prone to getting pushed around by big centers and ripped up entirely by faster big men. He's also mentally not there yet, and tends to let one moment ruin his whole night. Having Anderson/Sanders/Seraphin backing up the big man spots doesn't inspire a lot of confidence either, though Anderson is a talented rotation player.

Jefferson and Wall together will be fun, and if Azubuike can return to form, it will be a fun, 3 pronged offense. But I don't think Marvin Williams is anything more than a borderline starter at this point in his career (I think you're better off with Wall/Gordon/Azubuike in many situations), and a lot is riding on Hibbert at center thanks to a relatively weak selection of bigs. Unfortunately, I don't think he's going to make that jump yet - though I know you disagree.

A fun collection of talent and some favorite players here, but I still think you need to add a big man, or fully commit to a smaller, faster squad.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I wonder how effective Azubuike will be after that knee injury. He's had two surgeries on it in the last year.

The team is young, but also filled with moody/insecure players. I think you need another veteran other than Bibby to stabilize the locker room.

My team is dramatically different than what I started it out to be. I began by drafting really young but quicly soured on the mix of players.

I love my lineup defensively now and there are some promising young players on my bench.

I know people will question JO starting at the 4 but my bigs will play in a rotation and all get big minutes. It is up to Danny Ainge to judge the matchups for the evening.

Whaddya think?

PGs: Darren Collison, Jordan Farmar
SGs: Thabo Sefolosha, DeMar DeRozan, Avery Bradley
Sfs: Caron Butler, Al Thornton
Bigs: Chris Kaman, Jermaine O'Neal, Marreese Speights, Big Baby

Deep versatile team IMO.

When has Hibbert been pushed around?  As for the jump, he is already putting up 11 and 5 in 25 minutes a game.  How many 7 footers are there in the NBA doing that?

Williams has been the starting SF for a playoff team that won over 50 games.  He is far from a fringe starter.

My starting big men are going to have to improve their defense.  My bench bigs are more athletic with the potential to be good defenders.

Of course, that's one of the reason's I selected Patrick Ewing to be the head coach.  He has the experience and the know how to help the young big men on my team learn to play NBA level defense.

How many teams are ready to defend my two low post threats?

Again, this team is a team that could sneak into the playoff this year, but down the road as the defense is put in place, a real threat.

I would use Corey Maggette as a sixth man. The offense can run through him while Brandon Roy and/or Steph Curry are sitting on the bench resting. Get him more shots/touches. I would start Q-Rich in his place.

I would also start Beasley instead of Jeff Green. Comparably bad defensive players but Beasley is the better rebounder and scorer. Jeff Green has a better handle and passing but doesn't add much value with either.

I don't like Jeff Green with this roster. I don't think he adds much ... he'd be more valuable on another team.

Its a real solid team. In my opinion you'd be better served shopping Maggette like mad for a small forward with some defense behind him. Roy and Curry already like the ball in their hands, you don't need Maggette doing the same.

Matt Barnes started the majority of games at SF for Orlando last year. I think many around here also consider him a fringe starter.

Marvin's pretty invisible in that Atlanta lineup. Perhaps he's underappreciated, next to guys like Johnson, Smith, and Horford. But I get the sense that you could plug almost anyone else in there, and not dramatically effect the win/loss totals of that squad.
