I'd like Rudy on the C's but comparing him to Ginobili is wrong.  Ginobili was awesome when I watched him in his rookie year.  They are not really in the same ballpark.

Manu was 25 in his rookie year, just like Rudy will be when entering next season.

It's funny how people compare Rudy to Ginobili. Rudy is a more talented player than Ginobili, a better team player than Ginobili, a better passer, less me-first attitude.
He will also be the bigger flop in terms of career, but since only time will show that, we can agree to disagree.
Rudy at 25 years old is way better than the Manu Ginobili who arrived to San Antonio at 25 years old. But we can agree to disagree, kozlodoev.  ;)
In his second season with the Spurs, Manu commanded nearly 30 minutes of playing time, posting 12 pts, 4.5 rebounds, and close to 4 assists and 2 steals per game. In his second season, Fernandez contributed significantly less on a team that isn't quite as good as the 2003 Spurs.

But again, we can agree to disagree, and time will show who is right.

Yes, the Spurs were a better team than today's Blazers, they had Duncan who commanded double-teams, and Tony Parker who created for his teammates. Oden,Aldridge and Camby are far away from Duncan, and Roy or Andre Miller are looking for their own scoring. Comparing Popovich to McMillan would be too much... and Manu was 25 in his rookie year.

My point is that you can't compare Rudy to Manu because they've started playing NBA games in totally different environments. Manu was given the best chance to be successful, while Rudy ended up with McMillan. He could find his own chance with the Celtics, who aren't too far from the 2003 Spurs.

I hope Rudy the best, and I love the Celtics... I can probably be wrong, but I think he would fit really well in Boston,  reaching his best game while playing for the Celtics and winning games for them.

Yes, he's worth a first round pick

More of the same. But this from Oregonian beat writer Jason Quick:

Trail Blazers actively seeking trade for Rudy Fernandez according to agent Andy Miller. Boston, Chicago and New York are leading candidates.

Straight from Rudy's agent's mouth to God's ear.

Also:

Some of the teams interested in Fernandez have offered a future first round draft pick, while other offers would pair Fernandez with another Blazers player.

Who else could the Celtics be after? Przybilia? That would have to involve Davis or Bradley along with Wallace and our 1st round pick.

But I'm still doubtful that Rudy's bench role would be much expanded here. Though I did forget about Wesley Matthews and his outsized contract.

What if Portland management harbors a grudge against the Celtics for their role in Darius Miles getting playing time?

I'd love to pry Oden from them even if it means giving up Big Baby in the deal

I don't think they'll move Pryzbilla because he's an expiring deal that I think they are trying to use to trade for Chris Paul or some other big name

Jeff, per your front page post this morning, the Cs don't need to trade Sheed's deal here. They can offer Gaffney, Lafayette and a future 1st (or whatever asset needed) for Rudy....

Is it just me or are the Bulls seeming to try to snap up every FA wing?  It's starting to annoy me.

Hopefully we land Rudy.  Sounds like he's moving soon.  Haters can hate but Ainge has interest so I'm happy.

I'd consider any of these trades

Bradley for Fernandez

Lafayette, Gaffney, and Future 1st for Fernandez

Sheed and Davis for Fernandez and Przybilla

Sheed, Bradley, and future 1st for Fernandez and Przybilla

Sheed and Perk for Fernandez, Przybilla, and Cunningham

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

You are right.  Oden's not going anywhere at this point.  The team is still built around Oden and Roy.

you guys are probably right - though I'll note that there's a new sheriff/GM in town there and he might be willing to move on from the past regime's binkeys

I defiintiely wouldn't rule this new GM from parting ways with Oden, but he's going to command more than we can offer.

Yeah, I'd give up my binky if we can land Oden.

I think they have to wait a bit more.  He wouldn't bring back 25% of what he will be worth if he can show that he can stay a little more healthy.  And if he can stay healthy, he's not going anywhere anyway.  It would be kind of ironic if we ended up with him though.  The question is, should be trade some spare pieces for Oden or Kevin Durant ???
