I'd like Rudy on the C's but comparing him to Ginobili is wrong. Ginobili was awesome when I watched him in his rookie year. They are not really in the same ballpark.
Manu was 25 in his rookie year, just like Rudy will be when entering next season.
It's funny how people compare Rudy to Ginobili. Rudy is a more talented player than Ginobili, a better team player than Ginobili, a better passer, less me-first attitude.
He will also be the bigger flop in terms of career, but since only time will show that, we can agree to disagree.
Rudy at 25 years old is way better than the Manu Ginobili who arrived to San Antonio at 25 years old. But we can agree to disagree, kozlodoev.
In his second season with the Spurs, Manu commanded nearly 30 minutes of playing time, posting 12 pts, 4.5 rebounds, and close to 4 assists and 2 steals per game. In his second season, Fernandez contributed significantly less on a team that isn't quite as good as the 2003 Spurs.
But again, we can agree to disagree, and time will show who is right.
Yes, the Spurs were a better team than today's Blazers, they had Duncan who commanded double-teams, and Tony Parker who created for his teammates. Oden,Aldridge and Camby are far away from Duncan, and Roy or Andre Miller are looking for their own scoring. Comparing Popovich to McMillan would be too much... and Manu was 25 in his rookie year.
My point is that you can't compare Rudy to Manu because they've started playing NBA games in totally different environments. Manu was given the best chance to be successful, while Rudy ended up with McMillan. He could find his own chance with the Celtics, who aren't too far from the 2003 Spurs.
I hope Rudy the best, and I love the Celtics... I can probably be wrong, but I think he would fit really well in Boston, reaching his best game while playing for the Celtics and winning games for them.
Yes, he's worth a first round pick
