I don't really want AI on this team. He could fit and could be a great weapon off the bench, but it's a lot of ifs. If he came here I would rout for him, but I rather not have to.

We took on Mikki Moore and Starbury last year.

Not giving a guy like AI a chance is just wrong, in so many ways.

What do Mikki Moore and Iverson have to do with one another?

Marbury came to the Cs humbled, acted like a model citizen and left. Iverson signed with the Griz, didn't practice or play because he was hurt -- essentially was no part of the team. Then, in his FIRST game, he played like 20 minutes and moaned like a child about how awesome and misunderstood he is.

Why do the Celtics need this? How many minutes will he get on the Cs? 8? 10? And who are you going to cut to add him for a week before he starts complaining and we have to cut him?

I'd sign Stackhouse long before Iverson.

I am just sick and tired of you conservative fans who said no to Corey Dillon, no to Randy Moss, and no to Stephon Marbury only to see them succeed. We don't want to hear your bickering about how Iverson is a cancer and not worth it. Iverson is one of the greatest scorers of all time, he does not have a ring to his name, and he's not even going to consider "acting up" with personalities like KG and Sheed in the locker room with him. Could you maybe use some logic? Thanks.
Dickerson: On a scale of 1-10 where do you rank May 22nd in terms of importance to this franchise?

Ainge: You talk really loud, you know that?

the lakers look awesome to me. i sign anyone and everyone to prevent them catching us in titles. how many people would be willing to let iverson go to l.a. i'd be really surprised if he doesnt go to l.a. gawd, i hope not.
Do people STILL not believe in andrew bynum?
I actually find myself rooting for Bynum just because I know he's a real good player and all I've heard for two years is that he sucks and Perk is much better.  Absurd.
AI didn't hit the wall but he's running in 6 inches of mud for a while.

I could care less about AI's personality.  I just don't think they need his game.

Last year?  Well, last year was different.  They desperately needed talent off the bench, and someone who could put the ball in the basket.

This year is another story.  The bench is stacked with guys who can score.  They just don't need him, and the potential of his play messing with the chemistry is greater than the potential of his play improving the product.

When you want to improve your team mid way into the season, you don't bring in Mikki Moore and Starbury and ignore Allen Iverson.

That just goes beyond logic.

If A.I. comes here i'll tell you the exact timeline.

Iverson Signs with the Celtics.

Iverson gets a standing ovation at his first appearance.

Iverson is done with about 10-14 minutes played

The Celtics win by 15+

We win a couple games.

We play against a team that is good, and it's close...

AI does not play a lot in the fourth quarter.

The Celtics lose.

AI complains because he believes that if he was in instead of Rondo HE could have made better shots then Ray, PP, KG, Sheed.

The Circus has begun.

OH and BTW Rondo's play could suffer because he doesn't feel comfortable with the organization bringing in another PG.

Dude is finished...shot like Rondo does from the free throw line last year, a blistering 26%...yea we need Stack to lower our team's FG%.

There were minutes for those guys last year. There aren't minutes for Iverson.

Listen to Ainge's interview on EEI from Wednesday and you'll get it. Steph came in only after many conversations about a very small role and model citizenship required. Iverson's provben he's not capabale of that. There's no upside when they don't need his game.

I don't want to sign Jerry Stackhouse.

Neither do I. My point was he'd make more sense for this team than Iverson because he can play a role. Iverson is incapable of it. His ego will end his career.

Even in the unrealistic/crazy scenario that the Cs would be interested on Iverson (for some odd reason I can't think off), why does anyone believe Iverson would accept to join the Celtics?

He'll retire before playing for a team that doesn't guarantee him 20ppg. Coming off the bench is no problem: give him a 6th man role but also the minutes and the green light to put up 30 shots per night and he'll be a happy man.

from the boston herald
http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/celtics/index.php/2009/11/19/thursday-practice-notes-2/

Quote
Paul Pierce on talk of Allen Iverson coming back: “I didn’t believe Iverson retired. I think he has too much pride. He still has a lot left in the tank. We just watched in the locker room a story on him and New York. I hope he can make a return. I think New York would be a great fit for him. He can kind of go out there and showcase what he still has. I just hope we don’t have to see him on Sunday.”

"Pride...showcase what he still has..."

Pierce makes it pretty clear, albeit indirectly, that AI is not even on the radar for the team-minded Celtics.
