Maybe.  But again, why should he play?  At best, there's going to be 45 minutes of backup minutes at the 1-3 spots (and in games against good teams, it's likely going to be only 35-40 minutes).  Since Eddie House playing 18-20 mpg and Marquis Daniels playing 25 mpg covers all those minutes, why should Lester Hudson play unless he beats one of them out?
He shouldnt. The only question is one Doc has to answer (with Danny). If we keep him, is he better off in the D league for a 1/2 season or more or is he better of learning and playing in regular practice with the team. As the season goes forward past the All Star break, there will be less practice time for him to learn.

I think the only way he needs to stay with the team is if he is advanced enough to have value as a defensive replacement for House's backup minutes. If Tony Allen cant play and Hudson is better than Giddens, he should also stay. A turned ankle for Ray, Rondo, Eddie or Daniels takes us down to one back up guard and makes that necessary. The most important reason to keep Hudson is not because of the minutes, but because he'd be good for Rondo insurance. I remember the few game stretch where Rondo's ankle's didn't hold up and we had to start Gabe Pruitt. Lester Hudson fills the same role.

He won't play much, but we may have opportunities where someone has to. And he could be it.

Perhaps.  Though I think the argument could be made that if that's the concern the C's have, they might be better served getting a vet PG who'd be more capable of stepping in to run a team for a few games.

Not sure there is a Vet out there that could bring his scoring and his Defensive intensity. Am comfortable with him as a backup to Marquis/Eddie should the unthinkable happen.

These guys don't exist which is why we were forced to roll the dice with Cassell and Marbury out of desperation the past two seasons.  No veteran that is content to be a 3rd PG is going to be any more capable than Daniels or House to come in and start games for this team.

This is what the 58th draft gets you so far in the league. This guys achilles heels is that he is mainly 25 years of age(which is dumb if you ask me, if anything its an advantage since you get a mature player). Like i said a gift of gold fell onto Ainges lap. Love how he dived for ball in the clip, played solid man to man defense and showed us a share of shooting and penetrating skills.

Too true about Gerald, but he self destructed. We still (most of us) like Gerald and talk about him, just feel sorry for his bad luck. He is still trying to grow up. Hudson is already acting like he is grown so far. It's still a business too because of the money involved and that makes people hard hearted.

i really believe that if Gerald stayed with us a bit longer, maybe even get a chance to play with the big three he could have got alot better. since his iq isn't the highest he would have been better to stick around a bit longer to refine the system he got to know first

Hudson if his career gets going will be one of the best stories in sports. The guy was literally beaten to the ground and couldn't come out of high school. Got his GED then went to college and actually graduated. Literally also didn't get drafted probably stashed away playing somewhere in europe and he now made one of the elite teams in the nba.

"Loyalty" shouldn't blind us to reality. Are we going to pretend someone is better than they are for the sake of loyalty?

I loved the look on Big Z's face after Lester Hudson drove and score on him.  It was sorta like, "Who is this guy, and where'd he come from?"  Only answer to Big Z is "Haha, -2 for you"

There were all sorts of warning signs about Gerald--from his thin set of skills to his unfortunately thick skull--that seem blissfully absent around Lester.  IMO Lester is the real deal.

58th pick in the draft and he can make the roster of a team aiming for a championship? ainge make a good choice once more.

from the video (and yes, we all know how misleading those can be) he looks as if he will compliment daniels very well by making outside shots off a pass, similar to house.

he didnt look particularly fast or super athletic. if lester can have a career as bench player it would be great.

And that video didn't even show some of the great passes I've seen him make.

In one sense I agree that Hudson is the anti-Gerald Green/Kedrick Brown.  His natural gifts are not why he's on the team right now; it's his fairly polished game.

Still, I wouldn't get too excited yet.  Someone like Big Baby is going to have a hard enough time finding minutes on this team, let alone one of the last picks in the draft.  Furthermore, he's yet to do anything in a meaningful game.  More importantly, if he does, we'll have to ask ourselves, is it because he's really good or is because no one is paying attention to him because he's on the court with four All Stars?  Lots of players have tricked teams into big contract extensions because they played well on teams where the opposition ignored them (Jason Caffey and Austin Croshere jump to mind).

Still, I think he could be of value.  Though I don't think he does anything this year, he might prove to be Eddie House's replacement next year.  But unless he prove he can contribute next year, I'm not overly enthused.  This team doesn't need an undersized 2 as part of their rebuilding plan.
