Lester Hudson is a keeper

Hudson has to force DOC to play him. By bringing it every night and doing it all rebound, take care of the ball, etc... Rookies don't play unless they are aggressive and force the coaches hand. Especially on this team with Doc. I think he's a player and I thing that with the team we are putting out on the court there will be a lot of playing time for back ups this year. Hudson will at least get a chance and I think hell make the most of it.

I actually think Doc will give Lester his chances this year if he dresses for games.  House and Daniels aren't really equipped to deal with scoring guards off the bench - Lou Williams, in particular, ate Eddie off the bench a few times last year.  Lou will probably be a starter this year, but there are certain guards that will be poor defensive matchups for our team.  Doc might try throwing Hudson at them for a few minutes at a time, to see if he can hold his own. 

With that said, I don't think Hudson will spend all that much time on the active roster unless somebody gets hurt.  With the five starters and the bench of House/Quis/Scal/Baby/Sheed, that leaves two spots open for TA, Walker, Shelden and Lester.  JR will be in the D League, and I don't think Sweetney will make the team.  I think all three of TA, Walker and Landlord will be put before Lester (although I'd love to be wrong about TA).

I think Walker (obviously till he is healthy), TA (if still hurt) will be on the 'list'. The last spot will be between JR and Williams with the early edge going to JR spending more time in the D league. We have more than enough bigs on the roster so that Willaims is insurance if one of the others goes down.

We need a guard or wing player in that 11-12th roster spot after Scal IMO and it will be Lester or JR most likely. We have only Rondo, PP, Ray, House and Quisy set at the guard/wings spots. The real camp position or roster battle has come down to JR and Lester for that last guard spot.

Do these stats sum up his performances thus far or has he been playing better than they indicate?

I like that he only made 1 turnover today.

I know he can score, maybe his offense is not coming for him since he is so concerned about following an array of plays etc.

HE's playing pesky defense. He hustles his tail off, he's made a few very nice plays.

They are generally having him run the point on the third unit, and that has proved somewhat awkward for him, he looks lost as a point guard.

Overall, i'd rate his performance as slightly above average. His hustle and being pesky on defense are putting him ahead of JR in my book, who still looks lost on both ends.

Thanks man for some info. He is not a natural pg thats no secret. What he may lack in "instincts" he maybe able to overcome with hard work and some natual offensive and defensive skills. After all guys like Chauncy Billups never learned to play position well in the beginning.

IMO hudson will be the backup pg tied with daniels by mid season and over house. House is a 3 pt/quick buckets specialist and nothing more

Hudson looked REALLY good in last night's game.  I'm impressed, considering his draft position.

Yep, my guess is the game's slowing down a bit for him, he's relaxing a bit, and his scoring abilities, just in the flow of the offense, are going to start coming through.

I knew that Lester was supposed to have some maturity in his offensive game, but I've been impressed with his defense so far.  Imagine what he can be after a year with Thibs.

it is going to surprise a lot of you.  hudson will see a lot of game time.  we don't have a lot of depth amongst the 1's, 2's and 3's.   Hudson has been better than ta, jr and bw and if he continues to develop, he will get meaningful minutes so that Marquis can be used as sf instead of pg.

I think the fact that he's inspired 9 pages of discussion with his play should say it all. He must be doing something right. People on the rise have just as many haters as supporters. Something to chew on.
