it's looks like we're rolling now. So when's the cut date?

Middle of next week, shall we say?

Wednesday (October 6) evening, 9:00 PM Eastern time?

Heh, I thought cut date was same for both leagues.  I would've tried to swing another deal or two before making cuts if I knew.  Darn...  That's OK.  I like my team this year.  Definitely think I will be in top 8 this year.

Also, did we ever finish our discussion of the possibility of having a "playoff system" in the points league?  I would imagine it won't happen this year, but is this still something that's under consideration?

Can you refresh my memory about this? I don't recall the discussion about a playoff system in the PTS league and cant' figure out how it would work...  :-\ but i'm always open to new ideas  :)

And just a reminder that trading season is still on --- beat the rush that will happen at the waiver wire by getting guys now!

I might have pulled off 2 deals today --- and would love to go for 3!!  ;D

Dahntay Jones, Rudy Fernandez and possibly Shawn Livingston could be had for a 2nd round pick each or 2 for a 1st rounder. Each of these guys went through stretches of 25 fantasypts/gm last year --- helped me to a 9th place when i was languishing in about 17th place.

Trade to announce - pending Lucky's approval.

Ubuntu Y'all sends Tyson Chandler, UY 2011 #1 pick, UY 2011 #2 pick

MMSB sends Boris Diaw, MMSB 2011 #1 pick

What are the other GM's thoughts on this?  I didn't really want to give up Diaw - especially since I didn't get him that long ago, but I really needed a decent center and, if healthy (big if), Chandler is pretty good.

I also liked the idea of putting my team up against UY to see who will make out with the better pick.  Kind of a gamble, but it'll be fun rooting against UY all year  :)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think I remember some sort of discussion about having a playoff for the top teams at the end of the season.

EX:  Top 8 teams would make it and all points would start back at zero.  1 would play 8, 2 play 7 and so on...

It would make it a bit more exciting for the teams that are in the 2-10 spots toward the end of the year.

I'm not in the league anymore, but I think it might be cool if the points league did a "playoffs" like NASCAR does.  For those who don't know, NASCAR scores its season championship via points.  However,  with 10 (or 12?) races left in the year, they essentially "reset" the points, with the top 10 or 12 cars taking part in a "sprint" to the championship.  I'm not sure how it works exactly, but let's say the 1st place team starts with 50 points, the 2nd with 45, etc., down to the 10th place team having 0.

This basically gives everyone a fresh start.  The plus is, it's more exciting.  The minus is, it devalues the early part of the season.

If people feel like the system needs to be changed, this is a way to keep more owners engaged longer into the season.

I do recall some talk about possibly creating a playoff.

The NASCAR model sounds intriguing, and seems worth considering. It would be easier to track than a typical bracket system, for sure.

I just noticed this deal. I do like Chandler for a bounce back season, but I doubt he'll offer too much fantasy value coming off the bench in Dallas. He'll need to outplay Haywood and grab the starting role. (Which is possible.) But that uncertainty plus the pick swap makes this too risky for my tastes.

You would have been better off dealing for the rights to swap picks with YH - which avoids the possibility of sending him a better pick for a less productive player. In that scenario I'd have liked this trade for the Bacon a lot more than I do now.
