I disagree.  I think he is the most overrated athlete of this past 10 years.  I dont think he belongs in the same sentence as guys like Brady, Manning, Montana, Unitas, Marino, Elway, Tarkenton.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
You're right, not blocking below the waist if moving back towards the origin of the play under any circumstances.

However you can chop block if square downfield, and above the knee. Farve was cracking back so the play was illegal (as you said), but if he would've been infront of the man it would've been legal..of course then he would've only held the man up briefly, but it woudl've been legal.

nearly as overrated a selling point as it was in baseball. Interesting stuff, but luck stats don't impress me.

again, he's in my top ten, if i had to write it out, he'd probably be 9th or 10th, but he's far to flawed a QB to make the top of my list, that's all.

What the heck are luck stats?  Sounds like someone that's making a case for something they want to be true rather than having any facts to back it up.  Sorry any conversation for the best QB of all time has Favre in it.

I'm not even a big fan of his but, the blatant misinformation that some of you are spewing sort of set me off.

If playing every game in the NFL is overrated well then we should probably end the discussion right here.

Not getting injured in a collision game like football or even a light contact one like baseball is luck, not toughness.

You held up the never missing a game thing like its some intrinsic good of football jesus, and it should wash out some of the flaws that keep him off the top of my list. It's not, its pure luck.

Is brett tough? sure, i bet he's a hell of a warrior, i don't have a question in my mind about his pain tolerance.

Does the fact he was lucky enough to never have his ankle or shoulder landed on the wrong way by a fat ol' linemen like myself impress me?

not in the slightest.

Also, how in the hell do you figure i acted like he wasen't in the best QB of all time discussion, i told you i had him in the low end of my top ten list of all time.

But if your asking me if there's a spot for him ahead of:

1. montana
2. Unitas
3. elway
4. marino
5. brady
6. bradshaw
7. Manning
8. young
9.staubuch
10. brett

Then my answer is no, he's too inconsistent, and costs his team to many games when he gambles. It still means he's in the top 10 of all time with me, which is pretty darn good.

And indeed, i didn't mean to annoy ya man, just pointing out that i did indeed play football, which ya told me i didn't, no offense intended brother, you know i love ya :D

I heard Brett Farve allegedly cancelled Christmas too.

He was going too but a defensive back intercepted his speech. So he rewrote it, but that was intercepted too.

Was that after he set the record for TDs, Yards, consecutive games started.. etc etc etc.?

I read some of these comments about Favre and they remind of Kobe kids putting down Jordan...

He sure didn't set it for wins.

Bledsoe threw for a ton of yards too. Doesn't make him HOF. Or even one of the best

You just compared Bledsoe to Farve.  Sorry not in the same galaxy.

True.  Bledsoe didn't blow as many games and when he played bad people would be like "Bledsoe isn't so great sometimes."

but when Farve would throw 4 picks you'd still have Madden saying stuff like "But Brett Farve is a great quarterback, and Brett Farve is really good. I mean without Brett Farve we wouldn't have Brett Farve, cause without Brett Farve football would be different and so would Brett Farve. The people in Green Bay love Brett Farve and Brett Farve loves Bret Farve and I love Brett Farve and ever since Brett Farve has been playing football football has been a lot more Brett Farvian"

and then Al Michaels would be like "What John just meant to say is that he really likes Brett Farve"

Ya cause Jordan cost his team in so many big situations When I think Jordan I think the anticlutch

anti clutch I see.... or don't actually.
Brett Favre has been blowing games in clutch situations for the past decade.  Exactly why he never has made it back to the superbowl.  And why he has thrown over 20 picks in his last ten playoff games.  AKA anticlutch.  Or he does not perform well in the most important situations.

And I dont know I think Bledsoe and Favre are pretty a pretty fair comparison.  At the end of the day both will have their numbers but when you actually watch the games you see how they cost their teams.

Stats or wins no comparison so I'm not sure how you could even come to that conclusion.  Compare him to someone that hasn't missed a game his entire career.

You think he's top 10 all time.. well of course he is.  He's in the argument for the best of all time.

Top 10 QB.  Let me think and see what I come up with

Qbs I'd most want in order

1 Elway
2 Montana
3 Brady
4 Manning
5 Unitas
6 Warren Moon
7 Doug Flutie
8 Troy Aikman
9 Steve Young
10 Rothlisburger
11 Otto Graham
12 Terry Bradshaw
13 Dan Marino
14 Philip Rivers
15 Matt Ryan
16 Steve McNair
17 Kurt Warner
18 Tim Tebow
19 Jim Kelly
20 Aaron Rodgers
21 Joe Paterno when he was QB at Brown
22 Sammy Harbaugh
23 Charlie Ward
24 Phil Simms
25 Mark Rypien
26 Jim McMahon
27 Drew Bledsoe
28 whoever the Qb pro bowler of the Women's NFL was last year
29 Shaq
30 Brett Farve, but I'd play him at running back

Haha, great stuff - TP.  But you need to work the word "gunslinger" into there, that's announcer code for "makes stupid decisions and throws the ball up for grabs".

I admit I slightly stole that from a Madden impersonator.

gun-sling-er:(n) Quarterback who makes poor decisions while playing but doesn't seem to let that stop him from making the same poor decisions again. Quarterback must win at least one Superbowl, as that seems to be the predominant difference between quarterbacks that are "gunslingers", and quarterbacks that are "bad"

Did Sammy Slingin Baugh fit that description or was that just aliteration?

Luck might play a part in Baseball it has no part in Football.  The dude plays QB in the NFL and has never missed a game.  That deserves respect.

But we agree with Montana being #1 but, we just disagree that Favre isn't higher on that list.  I just can't take the revisionism in regards to Favre and most of it because he retired/un retired so much.  So what? Why do people even care? It's his life.  Seems like jealousy to me but, I digress.

what do you think would happen if Brady threw nothing but interceptions for the next 10 years?  Think he'd still be HOF material? Do you think people would still say he was a top 10 QB?

Cause that's Brett minus the 2 other rings and the undefeated regular season, but plus the tremendous(ly insulting) man love from the ESPNs of the world
