Im not going to defend what he did. It was a dumb move on his part. But I dont think he was intentionaly trying to hurt the guy. Let the hate flow, but guess what, the viks are going to be very good this year and all you haters are going to be very, very wrong.

Oh and btw, before you go off on what a cheap dirty player he is, dont forget your team isnt made up of choir boys either. I believe it was your #1 reciever who ran a traffic cop over in Minn.

I figure they;ll go 10-6 an brett will throw 3 game killing interceptions in the first playoff game.

It's been vintage farve for the last 10 years, why stop now?

And has performed incredibly poorly in the playoffs during that stretch.  I dont think you can be classified as a very good team in the NFL unless you win a playoff game that year.  I dont think the Viks will do it this year

I agree with Crownsy here, and especially Rondo2287 for throwing out the "bush league" term. I personally hate Brett Favre and all his "joy of playing" crap with a passion anyway, but even if this was Sage Rosenfels or some other generic QB, it's a downright dirty hit. He could have "joyously" ended Eugene Wilson's season or worse.

I know the Vikings are going to be good, and I really, really like 21 of the 22 starters they have. However, take that play out of context and it's just plain dirty. Wilfork, Haynesworth, Kris Jenkins, Jamal Williams, etc. makes that hit on a QB and it's a definite multiple game suspension.

Not Favre though.

If we are going to go on what players/personnel say about a guy then I guess the pats are cheaters then. Not saying that is true, but my point being is that talk means nothing and the media can make a whole lot out of nothing.

Agreed.  And making horsecollar tackles illegal irks me as well.  It's a violent game.  Hamstringing the defense doesnt improve the quality of the game.

I coach fball, and have been in love with this quote all year.  Agreed on the bad form on the block.  Just think farve chose badly in the split second he had to think about blocking.  He should of manned up and stalk blocked.  Even prissy receivers can do that..

The league is in a tough spot.  They would like to suspend someone to send a message about the tough new rules, but they probably never suspected that the first potential person to suspend is the superstar Favre (who won't be suspended).

It'll be interesting to see how the league responds a few weeks from now when some bench player makes the same "play" and injures someone.  The player will be suspended, no doubt, and questions will arise over why Favre was not suspended.  There will be lots of nitpicking over it, and various talking heads on TV will overanalyze different angles of film, etc....

QB is more important than any other position and is put in a defenseless position more than any other position so they need more rules to protect them.  I'm not a big fan of Brady rule either but, I'm willing to wait and see how it's called before I consider it a bad rule.  If they are calling guys that are blocked into the QB then it's a horrible rule but, if they are calling it on NGs like the guy from Pittsburgh that lunged at Palmer in the playoff game a few years ago and took him out for 2 years then it's a good rule.

Watch the play again. Farve makes contact from his left shoulder to the defender's left thigh. The injury occurs while farve rolls, instead of extends into his man. I would assume you never played football, (no offense intended) and apaologies if you have, but there is a legal way to block someone the way Farve wanted to. What Farve did was take the lazy way. He rolled into his man which force his load down and into the knees. This will always crumple the defender, and it will sometimes cripple them.

It wasn't a dirty play in my mind though. I twas a lazy play.

As far as it not being "whats good for the goose is good for the other 21 positiions on the field", QB is the most valuable postion in football, and it is maybe the most demanding position in all sports. There are probably 25 guys in the world that can throw and read at the level Farve does, and the league is better when the passing game is clicking, so its in their interest to protect QB 1
