Can we just add into the equation that after the game Favre said he rib wasnt actually broken and he didnt even know if it was fractured because they hadnt done xrays.  What an attention grubbing jerk

And IP.  All the news reports are saying he got Wilson in the Knee.   I have seen the video now and do think its unclear whether he hit thigh or knee.  But ESPN is reporting Knee

He got there eventually. I also noticed he went cross body, which like in basketball (when you reach) is a no no.

I'm telling you the play was lazy, not dirty. It was a lazy play by a guy who wanted to minimalize risk to his body and effort level, while still making it look like he was giving 110%. If he would've extended instead of rolling into his man, it would've gone unnoticed.

I dunno this is probably gonna sound stupid but look at Favres face after the block.  I remember when Brady through an illegal block a couple years ago, he turned into Perk trying to talk to every ref saying he didnt do anything wrong.  Favre doesnt even look back and his face looks pretty unremorseful.  Im prob reading to far into it, but its just something I noticed

Hard to tell whether he intended to hit Wilson as low as he did, or whether he just missed his block.  What sucks, though, is that you KNOW if a wide receiver did that, the next time he went over the middle the safety would take his head off; QBs (especially with the initials B.F.) are so coddled, anyone tries to get back at Favre (even a clean, but hard, hit), they're looking at flags and fines and maybe suspensions.

You know what I can't wait for?  The first time a QB, lined up as a wideout on a wildcat play, blows out his knee on a play like this.  That'll be the last of the whole overrated Wildcat movement.  Hopefully, it'll be Favre ;).

Oh and btw, before you go off on what a cheap dirty player he is, dont forget your team isnt made up of choir boys either. I believe it was your #1 reciever who ran a traffic cop over in Minn.

Totally unfair.  He simply wanted a hood ornament.   ;)

And the #3 WR from the last Super Bowl season got one  :(

I know very little about football but I know the rules for hitting a QB and hitting anybody else aren't symmetrical.  I'm no fan of Favre but I was surprised to see an old QB throw a block like that, dirty or not, in a preseason game.  But I'm sure he won't be suspended, and likely won't be fined.

That I agree with. Well not teh Farve part but Wildcat is way overrated. Next, someone will try to run the Annexation of Puerto Rico play and they'll call the OC a genuis. They probably won't even credit Tom Osborne or the geek from Little GIants with the idea.

I've seen him block using his body before during his career.  But this time he went about it all wrong I'll admit. The play looked bad, but if we are going to wish harm on a guy for a dumb play then you might as well wish it on half the league. It was a dumb move, not a premeditated block to casue injury. I doubt Favre has a list of players to cross off on his wrist band.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I don't wish harm on Favre because of that play, I wish harm on Favre because the only way he'll ever spare us the drama and stay retired is if he's physically unable to crawl on the field.  Even if he's in a wheelchair, he'll probably ask his coach if the fullback can push him around in a wheelchair so his precious games-played record will stay intact.

You know what I loved last night?  They were talking about how Childress' plan was for Favre to play only the first half, but that Favre was pleading (read: whining) to get in another series in the third quarter.  What do you know - who's back in the game?

Who the hell is in charge of that team?  What Favre wants, Favre gets (including, apparently, a ride home from the airport).

When they signed Favre, did they tell the trainers to make sure they were all stocked up on Chapstick?

I wish bad upon him because it was a cheap shot and a guy that is a 100 year veteran of the league knows that its a cheap shot.  He would be complaining about it non-stop if something similar happened to him after he threw one of his many picks and the defense was running the ball back up the field, yet he cowardly denied it and didnt take any accountability.

By bad I mean suspension

What does cheap shot mean to you?

Is Rondo pimp slapping Brad Miller a cheap shot? Is Battier putting his hand in Kobe's face a cheap shot? Is Bertuzzi (it was Bertuzzi right?) 'cheap shotting' Steve Moore a cheap shot?

Calling what Brett Farve did as a cheap shot is a gross over reaction I think...calling it a clean play is wrong though too. It cost 15 yards, and I doubt it should cost any more.

Ok but all those incidences happened in the regular season.  Pete Rose taking the catcher out in the all star game is seen as a cheap shot because its exhibition.  Favres play had just as serious possibilities except unlike Pete Rose it wasnt a legal play.  I see no difference.

And to answer your questions, Bertuzzi is definitly a cheap shot
Rondo Probably a cheap shot but as we have always seen play in any sport escalates in the playoffs.  And I give a guy more leeway with what hes doing the last seconds of a game with the playoffs on the line.  Also the league didnt deem is a serious foul, the NFL deemed Favres a personal foul.

And unfortunately I dont remember the specific battier incident you are talking about IP

Its just the way he (Battier) plays defense.

So is it a dangerous way to play defense that puts not only himself but the other player in physical danger?
