i knew i should have stayed on vacation :P

This overrated qb that the jets fans wanted out was the same one that defeated an undefeated titans team and beat the pats. And had people thinking NY superbowl.  You really think that it was just because of the o line?

Attack the int angle all you want. I like many packer fans would get mad at him form time to time. But the majority of those came from him trying to force things because he was trying to do too much, not from lack of talent. He may have cost us some victories I'll admit, but he also gave us more wins than any other QB has give a team.

And lets remember one thing, the viks called him last week and asked him to reconsider. I dont claim to know what's going inside that head. But I do know that all the viks need is a guy that can take the pressure off Peterson and they will be in the  mix.
As a packers fan you probably could care less if Favre went to NY, but how do you feel about him going to Minnesota? Or if he would have gone to Chicago?

Most Red Sox fans hated when Roger Clemens left and could live with the fact that he went to Toronto but those same fans went into instant "Hate Roger" mode once he went to the Yankees.

I dont hate him for it, because the Packers let him go. I know he retired but in the end they let him go. The thing is it is the best fit for him becasue the Vikings have the other pieces but were missing a QB. I really don't see another team in the league that was set up like that.
Before I answer I have to explain where I am comming from. I never liked our GM from the moment he passed on Jim Bates as coach and the dislike grew after he passed on Moss. Then it came to light that Thompson doesnt like going after FA and wants to build through the draft. This is a formula that works imo and bears nothing but mediocrity as the last few seasons except for one will show. Thats one reason I respect the hell out of Belichick and the pats organization becasue they use a mix FA and draft to build the team. When the whole Favre thing came down it sealed the deal for me on my dislike for how Ted does things. After 13/3 year I couldnt fathom why he would want to change things so badly.
It may sound crazy to anyone reading this but I want the Packers to have a bad record because I want to see Ted gone an have a GM that will use a formula that has been proven to work. Yes I will always be a Packer fan, but I dont want them to be just good enough to keep this guy employed.
If Favre has a great year and we suck, I feel it will put pressure on GB to make some changes and get someone that has some common sense.
Now I will say that he has made some good moves, I'm not going to let my dislike blind me to that fact. But in the end I just dont think the good is going to be enough to get us over the top.

Im not gonna bother throwing fuel into the fire of all this.  All I'm gonna say is that you cant deny that the guy was a great QB for a long time.  Like someone said earlier, just two years ago, he led the Pack to a 13-3 season.  I dont care how weak the NFC was that year, 13-3 in the NFL is still a GREAT job.  That being said, I hate the guy, I HATE HIM.  I hated him before all this retired unretired bullcrap, and now it's made me hate him more.

So I guess to simplify this thread and help keep it from getting WAY off base, I'll throw out my top 4 reasons WHY I HATE HATE HATE Brett Favre.

1.  For the longest time i HATED how he was crowned 'The Toughest Player in Football.'  I Witnessed with my own eyes, Favre crying after Lavar Arrington hit him.  Needless to say that I would cry like a 7 year old girl if Lavar back his prime nailed me, but then again, Im not the toughest player in football.

2. Laying down for Strahan, enough said.

3.  He has a chance to make a comeback drive against the Eagles in the NFC championship to game to once again keep the Eagles out of the Superbowl.  Hugh Dougles comes at Favre on a pass rush.  Instead of just taking the sack and calling timeout, Favre heaves the ball up in the air so he wont get hit and throws a game ending INT.....which again brings me back tot he toughest player in football garbage.

4.  His stupid last name should be spelled Farve, not Favre.  To quote Will Ferrell from Zoolander, "Doesnt anybody realize this, I feel like Im taking crazy pills!!"

So yeah, I hate the guy, but again.  I wont let my hatred blind me from the fact that for some time he was a Great QB...definetly not the toughest though  ::)

Let's not forget that Oscar Robinson, Bob Cousy, Willie Mays, Gordie Howe and a host of other athletes that were once beloved and the greatest ever in their sports just couldn't shut it down until they were embarrassingly bad. Favre is the same. Doesn't mean he isn't a HOFer.

Let's not forget Jordan embarrassing himself with the Wizards.

Atleast Jordan put up good numbers. And he didn't pull the every 2 days I'm changing my mind thing. (I know it hasn't been every two days)

True but when he retired he retired. He didn't say "Will I or won't I?" the whole summer. And then when he came back he came back.
Favre always seems like a teenage girl in the closet who can't decide what to wear before the dance and almost starts to cry before finally deciding and just barely showing up in time and all the other girls are p---ed, cause she talks about how she couldn't decide and thinks she looks better than the other girls after all when she really doesn't and then one of the girls walking away and says "She does this every dance".
I wonder if he's as big a prima donna as that when he's making those jeans commercials. If he loves the game so much why is it such a hard decision?

Ya he probably will, however the Vikings are a pretty well followed team anyways so maybe not in Ticket Sales, but I would much rather not have a team killer in my locker room.

Kellen Clemons should have started that last game for the Jets and probably some before that, but Favre was to concerned about his record and killed the teams chances.

thats why they almost had a few games blacked out. I see you saying that he sucks and he only has one SB. I've been a life long fan of the packers and i can tell you Brady, Manning and pretty much any other QB wouldnt have won anything either with the teams/coaching he had around him.

Coaches don't leave players like Brady and Manning. But Holmgren was happy enough to leave Brett for....sunny Seattle.   Can you imagine Belichek leaving Brady for Seattle? Neither can I.

That makes no sense. When he retired he retired? But he didn't!! Two times he didn't retire so, actually he didn't retire when he retired.

Bill Parcells didn't leave Phil Simms?

He is the toughest QB to ever play the game.  It's a fact.

And most assuredly tougher than Arrington embarrassingly enough for him.  Oh man.

I would rather have a QB that sits out when hurt than a guy that plays when hurt to preserve his record, then sucks it up on the field, then blames the injury.  But thats just me.

He took good teams and single handedly delivered them losses. He didn't just lose or fail to get over a hump or whatever. He personally went out and lost the game and there was nothing the other 52 players on the team could do about it. That's bad.

Eja, I love ya buddy, but this is insane.  There was nothing to do about it?  They could've, hell, I don't know, GET A STOP ON 4TH AND 26?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_and_26
And since that last super bowl team, the Packers have never been a dominant team.  Sure they've had some good years, but nothing ever like those late 90s teams.

And to say Brett Favre is a bad QB is insane.  He's had multiple monster seasons, and he's only had one losing season in his seventeen seasons as a starting QB.  And he hasn't missed a game since becoming a starter. . . in 1992!

And this is coming from the biggest Brett Favre hater on this board (unless there are some other Vikings and/or Bears fans on here).  But I've seen the guy play countless times.  He's a [dang] fine QB.  The best?  No.  But he's one of the best.

Holmgren left Green Bay because they wouldn't let him be GM.  Seattle would.

Seeing how I appear to be the only Viking fan on here, I'll give you my two cents when it comes to the signing of Brett Favre.

I'm all for it.

Is he the brett favre of 12 years ago?  Nope.  Is he gonna put up huge numbers?  Nope (No QB could in that craptastic offense).  Is he gonna throw a bunch of picks?  Probably.

Is he better than the other Vikings QBs?  Absolutely.

People that say the Vikes shouldve stuck with Jackson are insane, or have never seen him play.  He is not ready to be an NFL QB.  The Vikes already have the most vanilla offense in the league, but with Jackson running the show, they have to whittle down the play selections to the point where they'll fit on the back of a matchbook.  He has no pocket presence, and he has no ability to read defenses.  I love the kid, and I hope the Vikes hold on to him, but they want to win now.  Favre can help them with that.  TJack can't.  And Rosenfels is a backup.  He hadn't outplayed TJack in the preseason.  That says it all.

And as a Viking fan, I'm glad to see that this is going to make Ziggi Wilf a big chunk of change.  This guy has done nothing but spend money to improve this team, even though the metrodome is the worst money-making stadium in the game.  He deserves a little return on his investment.

Signing Favre also brings the team into the public eye more, and hopefully this will get the gears turning on a new stadium bill for the Vikes.  Wilf has been patient, but talk of the Los Angeles Vikings is in the air, and it makes me want to puke.

Does it bug me that my least favorite player is now a Viking?  Not really.  He's never been a heinous guy off the field, and that's all I really care about.  Once you put on a Viking jersey, welcome to the team.

I also don't think the whole Favre saga bugs me that much because I don't have cable and I rarely listen to sports talk radio.  No one is forcing you to listen to ESPN'S non-stop Favre coverage.  Go take a walk or something.

The Four Stages of Battered "Favre" Syndrome

Denial: The Fan refuses to admit--even to him/herself--that he/she has been subjected to inferrior football playing/ability/decisions or that there is a "problem" with his/her Quarterback. He/she may call each incident an act of "Gunslinging". He/she offers excuses for his/her Quarterbacks Interceptions and each time firmly believes it will never happen again.

Guilt: He/she now acknowledges there is a problem, but considers him/herself responsible for it. He/she "deserves" to be subjected to inferrior football playing/ability/decisions, he/she feels, because he/she has defects in his/her fandom and is not living up to his/her quarterback's expectations of blind faith of his/her quarterbacks ability.

Enlightenment: The fan no longer assumes responsibility for his/her quarterbacks Inferrior football playing/ability/decisions, recognizing that no one "deserves" to be subjected to watching Favre on a weekly basis. He/she is still committed to her team, though, and stays with her Quarterback, hoping they can work things out.

Responsibility: Accepting the fact that his/her husband will not, or can not, stop his Inferrior football playing/ability/decisions, the "Favre'd" fan decides he/she will no longer submit to it and starts a new life with a new team.

CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16
