There are a lot of QBs that are not so great that are better than him. Backups tooChad PenningtonMatt Leinartevery QB drafted in the first round this yearChris SimmsJason CampbellBilly VolekMatt Cassellmaybe Jake Delhommemaybe Trent Edwardsmaybe Brady Quinnmaybe Derek AndersonMike Vickmaybe Jeff GarciaAlex SmithThe strikethroughs are all mine... That's what I thought for right now. Favre can still somewhat play, but the ones I've left are guys I'd rather have in the playoffs at this point considering Favre can't be trusted at all to play within himself. Vick is the best bet to be next, if he comes back and plays like he did before. I don't like rookie quarterbacks period, but would definitely think that you would agree that you would rather have Favre then at least Josh Freeman, the QB Tampa took from Kansas State in the 1st round.

While I definitely think Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco are the exceptions and not the rule when it comes to rookie QBs if you pit Josh Freeman vs Brett Farve in a playoff game it's just a matter of who throws more picks. Freeman is more mobile and there's less film to study, so he might actually be the better choice. At least he's the unknown wild card. We know Farve can't lead a team to anything and hasn't been able to for over a decade
He's coming back because he wants to set a record for career interceptions that will never be broken.
Eja, I think you're too easily dismissive of Favre's accomplishments. You have to be pretty good to make two SB's and almost win two. Saying career back-ups and journeymen are better than a HOF QB even on the downside of his career is a little silly IMHO. Favre has a major flaw, no doubt and it's the picks. But even with that flaw, I'll bet most coaches and GM's would rather have him than whatever fill-in-the gap, borderline starter/stiff they are going to trot out there this season. I know I'd welcome him on my sorry arse Broncos instead of Orton. A vast minority of teams start a guy better than Favre right now..
Some of you guys are out of your mind. Saying Favre is a bad QB and saying he was always bad are two different things. The guy led the league in TD passes for three straight years. He won three straight MVPs. He passed for over 4000 yards 5 times. He was an All Pro 3 times and a Pro Bowler 10 times. He leads in a bunch of career stats for QBs.As a current QB, he's not good and he's never been a smart QB, otherwise, he would probably have been considered the best of all time possibly. But let's not urinate on his legacy because he's not a likeable guy. He was an awesome QB for many, many years.

So he was good for like 6 years and then bad for about 11 or something. Something like that. How can a guy like that go to the HOF?
