I'm not sure there's a storyline I care less about than Bret Favre to Minnesota. At this point he's grubbing big bucks for a name and below average results. He should never have played a game outside Green Bay.

I cannot stand Favre.  Its been "all about him" these last few years.  Football is a team game and no one guy is bigger than the game.

He was a heckuva talent in his day but I've completely soured on him these last few years.  The media continually to fawn over him when it was clear that his skills were dimishing and he was hurting his teams as much as he was helping them.

He'll be in the HOF but his image is tarnished.  We're now well past Franco Harris in a Seahawks jersey, Joe Namath in a Rams jersey, or Emmitt in a Cardinals jersey.

He's coming back because he wants to set a record for career interceptions that will never be broken.

If it wasn't for Desmond Howard, Favre would have been out of the NFL five years ago.  Favre has ridden that one [dang] SB victory for what, thirteen years now?  He hasn't been that good of a QB since, especially in the postseason.  Desmond was the difference-maker in that game, if he's not in there and one or two other breaks fall the Patriots' way, Favre would be long retired and remembered for what he truly is; a guy with a million-dollar arm and a fifteen-cent brain.

I'd go so far as to say that Farve might be the single worst QB that ever won a Super Bowl and went to a Pro Bowl.

He has GOT to be the worst QB that ever did that and won an MVP.

He hasn't even been a top 12 QB in the league for years now.

There are a lot of QBs that are not so great that are better than him. Backups too

Chad Pennington
Matt Leinart
every QB drafted in the first round this year
Chris Simms
Jason Campbell
Billy Volek
Matt Cassell
Jake Delhomme
Trent Edwards
Brady Quin
Derek Anderson
Mike Vick
Jeff Garcia
possibly Alex Smith

The only thing I don't like about him is the way he held teams hostage and the way ESPN dedicates significant coverage to this when it is barely newsworthy

He's just the most famous mediocre QB in the NFL

You can't make the arguement that he was really good in his prime and we just think of him as not great cause he played as long as he could cause he has been bad for about a decade.  What's the point of a QB that takes you to the 2nd round of the playoffs and throws 4 picks?

I kinda think we in New England are spoiled by a really really good QB for a decade, so maybe in other places like Jacksonville or something they think of Farve as good, but there is no way I can think of him as good. Between seeing Brady, Cassell, and Matt Ryan play here over the years there is no way I can think of Farve as good.

You can't be serious... Billy Volek. Derek Anderson, Alex Smith? Most of these guys have not had a career season as good as Brett's worst. I get the backlash, but that list seems to stretch it no?

That is an extremely aggressive statement. Are you talking better then him right now? Or better then him period?

Mostly right now, but also probably better since he started throwing so many picks at the exact worst times and achieving nothing with good teams, which has been pretty much since a couple years after that second Super Bowl

I just examined that statement going back to the Terry Bradshaw days.  Maybe the most debatable one is Joe Theisman who won an MVP, 2 Super Bowls, and 2 Pro Bowls.

I guess I'd go with Theisman as better

The strikethroughs are all mine... That's what I thought for right now. Favre can still somewhat play, but the ones I've left are guys I'd rather have in the playoffs at this point considering Favre can't be trusted at all to play within himself. Vick is the best bet to be next, if he comes back and plays like he did before. I don't like rookie quarterbacks period, but would definitely think that you would agree that you would rather have Favre then at least Josh Freeman, the QB Tampa took from Kansas State in the 1st round.

Ok I can't really defend this. Turns out Trent Dilfer went to a Pro Bowl. Brad Johnson went to two. I don't think I could defend Jim McMahon, and maybe not Jim Plunket

I'd feel fine defending Kurt Warner though. Or Ben Rothlisburger

McMahon wasn't bad until he got hurt, but he was never better than Favre.
