right but he has been no better than an average quarterback for the last ten years but he has been given a free pass for those ten years and people just keep saying how great he was.  He was a great QB for a few years, A good QB for a couple then average. Rich Gannon was a great QB for a couple of years too.
Can we keep the politics out of this.

And the media loves the guy but he has been better than just average over the last ten years. Statistically speaking he has had 5 exceptional years over the last 11 and was the reason a fairly untalented Green Bay team was winning more than 10 games a bunch of times over the last ten years. I really think you are letting your objectivity of his total contribution over the last ten years be effected by the media's treatment of this guy as some cult football hero.

. . .

But I disagree, Would you call Pennington an above average QB?  Because they won 11 games last year.  I remember all the games he screwed up over the past 10 years and know that an average quarterback in my mind is a guy that can be good, but not consistantly good.  And thats what has been Favres problem the past 10 years,  he has not been able to put together a complete season without screwing up and costing his team.

Let's not forget that Oscar Robinson, Bob Cousy, Willie Mays, Gordie Howe and a host of other athletes that were once beloved and the greatest ever in their sports just couldn't shut it down until they were embarrassingly bad. Favre is the same. Doesn't mean he isn't a HOFer.

Let's not forget Jordan embarrassing himself with the Wizards.
Celtics fan for life.

Thomas Jones on Favre

"We're a team and we win together ... but at the same time, you can't turn the ball over and expect to win," Jones said in an interview Tuesday with New York Hot 97 FM. Favre threw three interceptions in the Jets' season-ending 24-17 loss to Miami that clinched the AFC East for the Dolphins.

"The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality," Jones told the radio station. "If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's OK,' that's not reality. ... I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it.

"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones told Hot 97 FM. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair]."

Kerry Rhodes on Favre
"If he's dedicated and he wants to come back and do this, and do it the right way ... and be here when we're here in training camp and the minicamps and working out with us ... then I'm fine with it," Rhodes said. "But don't come back if it's going to be half-hearted or he doesn't want to put the time in with us."

Unnamed Veteran On Favre
A veteran Jets player, quoted anonymously by Newsday, described Favre as a "distant" teammate who, when at the Jets' practice facility, spent his downtime away from teammates in an office specially designated for him.

"There was a lot of resentment in the room about him. He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone," the player told Newsday.

Please Thomas Jones and Rhodes. Quit crying about how Brett Favre didn't want to go to the strip club with you after games. You scrub team was 4-12 in 2007 and your coach was hanging by a thread. Then Favre comes in and you almost make the playoffs. Give the man some respect for giving your a team a chance..

Id say it was the offensive line they put together that made the difference big difference especially since Thomas Jones was a pro bowler last year

Yeah it helped, but Favre played no small part. Put an average QB on that team and they go 5-11.

I dunno I would say favre was average, and the numbers would back me up.  I think you put a slightly above average QB on that team and they make the playoffs

Robertson was fading, but I'd hardly put him on that list.  Far from embarrassingly bad.  Iverson's probably going to be a hall of famer...So with one championship and the statistics dictated by his longevity, The Narcissist deserves to also.

Do we have to turn this into a political thread. Enough with the political references before someone comes in and starts defending the President and this breaks down.

Maybe maybe not, But I guarantee you the home fans wont be chanting for the backup QB to go into the game with the playoffs on the line.

i knew i should have stayed on vacation :P

This overrated qb that the jets fans wanted out was the same one that defeated an undefeated titans team and beat the pats. And had people thinking NY superbowl.  You really think that it was just because of the o line?

Attack the int angle all you want. I like many packer fans would get mad at him form time to time. But the majority of those came from him trying to force things because he was trying to do too much, not from lack of talent. He may have cost us some victories I'll admit, but he also gave us more wins than any other QB has give a team.

And lets remember one thing, the viks called him last week and asked him to reconsider. I dont claim to know what's going inside that head. But I do know that all the viks need is a guy that can take the pressure off Peterson and they will be in the  mix.
Back to wanting Joe fired.
