Eli also hasnt won a playoff game without plax and will be one of the WORST quartbacks in the league this year without Toomer or Plax.  He will be in the bottom 10

without amani toomer -- i mean can you actually be serious.

Listen Eli is probably the 7th or 8th best quarterback in the league and he is now the top payed quarterback, I dont think thats smart, but I guess since the contracts arent guaranteed its not a huge deal

Brady
Peyton
Rivers
Brees
Mcnabb
Cutler
Warner
Big Ben

All guys I would take over Eli
and I might even want Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan over him too

looks like you should stick to basketball.

Rivers, Warner, Cutler and even McNabb shouldn't be on the list

Cutler has performed better consistantly and is younger
Warner is really old which begs the question, why is he so much better than Eli

Brees and Rivers have consistantly been better Quarterbacks than Eli, its not their fault that the defense has let them down, but look at the numbers, they are consistantly better without the WR options that Manning had.

Mcnabb beat eli this season in the playoffs

When has Cutler been to the playoffs?

How did Mcnabb do when he made it to the Super Bowl?

Brees and Rivers, both played on such a deep team that did nothing.

Eli, Super Bowl MVP.  Lead the Giants on two come from behind drives in the 4th quarter against a then undefeated team to win the Super Bowl.

I do not think Eli should have won SB MVP at all.

Its painfully obvious why the Giants won that Superbowl, their D-Line. It was the best game by a D line I have ever seen, and completely changed the complexion of the game.

The Giants only scored 17 points in the game. The trademark of the Pats that year was their amazing offense, and the Giants D stopped that offense. That last drive by Eli was not particularly impressive, it was miraculous, but his decisions were by no means impressive. And it was not like he was cool under pressure and all his decisions could not have resulted in a huge mistake...the Pats just failed to capitalize on Eli's bad decisions.

Toomer 48 receptions 580 yards 4 touchdowns
Plax 35 receptions 450 yards 4 touchdowns

Eli Manning 3200 yds passing  21 touchdowns

Losing 32% of his passing yards and 38% of his receiving touchdowns

After plax went out Eli didnt throw another TD pass to a WR

Im very serious

Have fun with Mario Manningham, Hakim Nix, and Steve Smith

Eli's Numbers last year 3238 yards passing 21 TD 86.4 Passer Rating

Warner's Numbers last year  4583 yards passing 30 Td  96.9 Passer Rating
And he went to the superbowl last year

why should he not be on that list

He only got that kind of money because he is Peyton's little brother. Why pay someone 15 mill a year when they have only had one season of 80 plus QB rating. The Giants really outbid themselves this time, similar to what the Falcons did with Vick's extension awhile back.

Matt Cassell got a huge contract you would think NE fans would be used to over hyped QBs getting overpaid.

Eli while I still question some of his decisions is light years better than Cassell.

Love the Jack Tripper pic, haha

I agree with that completely.  I think Cassel like Eli is going to be exposed this year.

these are incomplete stats (try attempts). and by the way the stats you're pushing on toomer and plax stink. the starting two receivers combined for 83 catches and you're telling me eli can't live without them?

in light of roy's comments on the adjacent thread i'm going to stop beating you up so much.

Didn't heath Miller once win a SB? Did that make him a top 5 QB in the league?

Dieon Branch once won the SB MVP, did that make him a top 5 WR?

Dexter Jones won a SB MVP. Did that make him a defensive player of the year?

Larry Brown won a SB MVP, is he now a Hall of Fame DB?

The fact remains that players can play well in one game and remake what they are through the reputation of that one game. That's what has happened to Eli. He is a mediocre to kinda good QB at best who has suspect decision making and mediocre accuracy in throwing the ball. He had a good fourth quarter in the biggest game of his life. But that fourth quarter shouldn't erase the 4 years of mediocrity that forced Tom Coughlin to rely on his defense and running game to win games. There are easily 10 QBs in the league that if you put them on the Giants would have performed as well or better given the personnel that surrounded Manning.

A prediction. He will once again be rated amongst the leagues lower half of QBs when the season is over. He will have a completion % below 58%. and he will probably throw just over 20 TDs and over 15 interceptions. That's been his MO so far and I don't expect anything different

bryan calangelo just called for you, says there's a phone call for you at the pay phone on the corner of bloor and york, right across the street from roots. maybe you should go get it...

HE DID NOT THROW ANOTHER TD PASS TO A WR AFTER PLAX WAS GONE, so sofar he has shown that he cannot live without them

Wait a Minute, thank god I took the time to finish reading your post

The New York Giants would not trade
Eli Manning
for
Tom Brady

You just absolutely shot all your credibility on the subject.  Wow I dont even know what to think right now

I'd also bet my entire bank account that if the colts called tomorrow and wanted to do peyton for eli, straight up, the giants would take it and pack eli's bags for him.

yeah um, jerry reese just called. he says you're fired.

If you really wouldn't take peyton manning over eli manning....I just don't know what to tell you. Peyton is a much better QB.

Again, i feel like your being pretty hostile for no reason. I never said Eli sucked. In fact, i think he's a pretty [dang] good QB. But if you put the two mannings and brady side by side told me to pick em' in order, Eli is getting the last pick.

That's not a knock on him, He's a heck of a QB and he has youth, but the other two QB's IMO (which you apparently don't respect, which is fine) are better than him.

it was only a joke. peyton's best years are behind him, eli's are still in front of him -- enough said. and i've shown no disrespect to manning or brady, but there tires are getting bare, and i don't want a fantasy quarterback, i want the guy who gives my team the best chance to win for the longest time possible. could eli be his brother if he played in indy's offense? i don't know and really don't care. he plays for the giants, and i'd say he's held his own there.

I would probably agree with Crownsy's order of Peyton, Brady (when/if healthy) and Eli.  However, Peyton has said ever since Eli was at Ole Miss that he felt Eli was going to be a better quarterback than he ever was.  Maybe another Superbowl or two will change our minds.
