2-0 run!

Hmmm, but be time to bump that thread so that a new generation can experience the joy of voting on such a crucial issue.

Some idiot tied it up again.  No fear, i put oranges ahead again.
Back on topic, i heard something on sports sunday about a some Pacer guy on the phone (i think) talking about Tony AND Scal leaving.  Did anyone watch it more attentively than me?

You can count me in the Orange camp, but if Bananas were an option I would have to change my vote.

I sense alot of sarcasm in this thread.  The fact is, Brian Scalabrine is not a mascot, except to those fans who are rental fans. The ones who just showed up on this site when we got KG and Ray, and started competing again.  That's when the rental fans started showing up.

For most of the rest of us, while we recognize Scal's limitations, we also appreciate his contributions. Such as when he filled in admirably in '08 when KG was out, and the team did not skip a beat. And most of last season, when he gave meaningful minutes on both ends of the floor, hitting key shots, always hustling, always knowing how to space the floor. Why do you think, despite his athletic limitations, that Doc plays him so much?  Because he knows his limitations, plays his role, supports his teammates, and rarely screws up.

He has never once complained about his minutes, has been at times mocked by the "fans" in the Garden who yell at him to shoot a 3 in garbage time each time he touches the ball.  Those "fans" are pathetic.

I have followed Scal all 4 years with the Celtics, and it took me two years to "get" why Danny signed him in the first place.  Now I get it, and I, for one, will truly miss him if he goes.

You can miss him for the intangibles that he brings, but you cannot miss him for anything that he brings on the floor. He's just not very athletic out there and isn't a threat. I dont like when the bandwagoners egg him on to shoot or laugh in his face either. I'm usually yelling the opposite thing, saying get rid of the ball.

If Scal was any good, we wouldn't have had a problem with bigs coming off the bench once KG went down THIS year. Scal will barely touch the floor this year now that Rasheed is the first guy coming off the bench. He might get garbage time minutes, or minutes when Rasheed gets suspended, etc. but to know that he has made 3 million dollars for the past 5 years for being "a good guy" is painful.

Hey Ainge, I'm a pretty good guy, and would be a great teammate. Think about it!
Did you watch the Orlando series bro?  I really don't think we would've gotten to game 7 if we had Davis guarding Lewis the whole time.

Yes, I did watch the Orlando series... I'm not so sure if you did though. You make it seem like it was the Celtics who took it to game 7... you're forgetting we could have won game 6 but blew it, then we got smoked in game 7.

Also, Rashard Lewis scored above his season average in every game except one, and never grabbed less than 5 rebounds in each game. Hard to say that Scalabrine was that great defensively on him, not that anyone expected him to shut down Lewis anyways. It seems that people are comparing the scalabrine of old to the scalabrine of last season, when in fact they should be comparing scalabrine to other players that play his position. He is not a good player, and he is not worth a fraction of the money he is getting.

To go back to the first post, when Scalabrine leaves the team, I will not be sad at all. When Pierce leaves or retires, that will be my saddest moment in terms of a player leaving a team. I'm sure many of us will agree on that at least.

Come on dude, Lewis is an all-star and Scal is 3rd string.  You're right he isn't GREAT defensively and no one expected him to shut down a guy like Lewis.  My point was, Davis desperately needed the help.  Baby just couldn't keep up.  Remember Scal wasn't the only guy guarding him.  To say he is a bad player is ludicrous.
In terms of losing Pierce, i will be sad for the reason that our team will probably not be as good.  Overall though, i think Scal is a much more likable guy than Paul (matter of opinion, not stats).

Scal is one of the worst players on the roster.

If someone told me he had just gotten in a car accident, my first question would be, "Oh my god, Pierce wasn't involved was he?"

That's messed up, if Scal saw you dying of thirst in the desert he would give you his last drop of water then carry you to safety. That's just the kind of guy he is.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon

I am almost positive that you could not have been a celtics fan pre-rayray/Kg trade and claim that Pierce is a less likable guy than Brian Scalabrine.

Do they call Scal "THE TRUTH"?

No, that is what we call El Capitan.

Even though you said some questionable things about him being in a car accident I agree with you here.
Most Celtics fans hated Scal when the team was bad. Scal is a hustle player that plays well in small amounts of times as an ancillary piece with good players. He was not liked when they were bad, so to say he's more well liked than PP is crazy.

So you agree with me, yet found my situational analogy of the car accident questionable? You realize I was basically making the exact same point with said analogy right?

Really?  Cause I've probably seen every game since Scal joined this team, and i loved him back when we sucked.  I disagree, the guys who only started watching games after the Big 3 that hate Scal because he's largely overshadowed by our now good team.  Most true fans recognize his skills and acknowledge his contributions.  Whether or not you like him or if you think he's overpaid, that's up to you.

Youve seen every game since Scal joined this team, yet you'd be more upset when Scal leaves the team then you will be when Pierce leaves the team? I'm not one to question anybody's fanhood here, but come on man... it is clear that you have some sort of personal bias for Scalabrine. Is he your cousin or something? Paul Pierce is a top five boston athlete of all time, scalabrine is nothing.
