Why are people so worried about how much Scal is making?  You're not the manager of the Celtics so don't worry about it.  It's not even your money.  If the Celtics want to flush 10 million dollars down the toilet what do you care honestly?  We SIGNED him, we're not just giving him money.  We're required by contract to give him the money he was promised.  It sounds like a lot of jealous bull to me.  The guy makes 3 million for doing nothing just because God gave him a talent.  Life isn't fair.
If you have a legitimate complaint about him keeping us from winning a championship, then let's hear it.  But don't be talking down about my boy just because he makes way more money in a year than most of us are gonna see in our lifetime.

i don't blame him for the money he makes. he is'nt stupid. he SHOULD take what he can get. i don't like him because i believe he dogs it in the off season, things like throwing a no look outlet pass out of bounds, grabbing shirts before the ball is inbounded and getting techs for it.basically whenever scal TRIES to be clever. it's like he's bought into this regurgitated idea that he's a particularly smart player.he's not. yet he still will get full page articles in the herald here and there.

While I don't love Scal, I would be hesitant to trade him at this point--or at the very least, he's no longer my "Celtic I'd most like to trade."  Right now all we have at the 4/5 is KG, Perk, and Wallace.  If BBD goes elsewhere, the C's are going to need at least 2, if not 3 more players to cover the 4/5 spots for depth.  Scal played well in the Orlando series last year.  Unless the trade he goes in involves a big man or Ainge has other designs in free agency, I wouldn't be in a rush to deal him at this point.

Dude you just don't get it. People arent JEALOUS of what Scal makes. If that was the case, then people would be jealous of what every player makes. Fans don't get jealous of that sort of thing- they recognize it for what it is. The reason people keep bringing up how much Scal makes is because it is IMPORTANT in evaluating a player's worth to a team. Do you not understand that?

How is he keeping us from winning a championship?  He isnt helping us in any way, and he is taking money away from a better player who could help us win a championship for the same money, or less.

Thanks for clarifying that it isnt our money, I think some bloggers were confused for a second there. The fact that it isnt our money doesnt mean that we shouldnt care about it. It may not be us signing the checks, but it is us paying for tickets to attend games, and paying for food, and paying for merchandise. When you put your heart and soul into a team, you want them to win. When they don't, you should feel upset about it. So, yes, when a player is signed and doesn't live up to the money he is making, as a fan it does affect me.

I'm not saying Scalabrine is the worst player to suit up in the last 5 years. He might be one of the worst contracts though. When his contract is up at the end of the season, I will wish him good luck in the future. If he comes back, it better be for the veteran's minimum.

You could say the same thing about the contracts given to Tony Allen at  2,500,000 or House a little under 3mil.  or Giddens just over 1 mil.  Even Ray Allen has a contract he's not worth anymore, making more than KG according to ESPN.  Scal was overpaid I agree, but at that time he was coming off a big year with the Nets and had interest like that from several teams.  I'm sure if we end up keeping Scal, and we want to resign him he will resign cheap, but that wont be for another season.

But the contract was signed 5 years ago right?  So his current worth to our team doesn't matter, there's nothing we can do about it.  It only mattered when we were signing for him.  He was worth a lot more to us back then than he is now.  So as i said, if he resigned it would be for less because he is now only a 11/12th man.
As far as his money disabling us, FYI we're over the cap.  His money means nothing, we can't sign anyone else in his place.  If anything the largeness of his contract means more, because we can get more for him.  When you're over the cap, the more contract you have to throw around in a trade, the better.

Do not morn Scal.   Rumor is that once traded:  he will be bought out of his contract.  Get on either a Jenny Craig, Weight watchers or biggest loser, diet and trim off the excess baggage.  He is then going to be signed on as the new "Lucky" and entertain us in TD Bank North.  The only stipulation is that he doesn't pretend to play defense or take up a roster spot.  I hear that he has been working on the trampoline and now can dunk on an 8 foot rim.   There is another rumor also.  He may be hired as a bar back at Jake Worth's and throw the sawdust on the floor in between patrons entrances.
