Yeah my bad man, I didn't realize when I gave you a list of five names that you were the agent for each, and knew exactly how much each command. I see the interest in Thomas and Smith is rampant, and they are clearly worth much more than the minimum at this point.

I also apologize for "tearing Scal down" by saying that he hustles, doesn't make mistakes and is an admirable 12th man.  ::) You win ok, this is a waste of my time.
Looking at my gucci, and it's about that time...

The biggest disappointment with Scal has been his inability to rebound.  His defense is pretty effective on quick 4s and some power 3s (played Rashard Lewis as well as anyone on the Cs), his spot shooting is pretty effective, his screens are good, but he just can't rebound at all.  Most guards are better rebounding the ball.  This dramatically reduces his effectiveness as a big man.

I wish I knew how Scal was able to grab boards in his contract year with Jersey.  He hasn't even sniffed those #s since.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

5 years $15 million is a horrible deal for a 12th man.  Obviously Danny didn't think he'd be a 12th man so it was danny's worst signing i think (considering both the length/price of the deal).  I bet he would take it back if he could rewind time. Scal gave some laughs though...

I sense alot of sarcasm in this thread.  The fact is, Brian Scalabrine is not a mascot, except to those fans who are rental fans. The ones who just showed up on this site when we got KG and Ray, and started competing again.  That's when the rental fans started showing up.

For most of the rest of us, while we recognize Scal's limitations, we also appreciate his contributions. Such as when he filled in admirably in '08 when KG was out, and the team did not skip a beat. And most of last season, when he gave meaningful minutes on both ends of the floor, hitting key shots, always hustling, always knowing how to space the floor. Why do you think, despite his athletic limitations, that Doc plays him so much?  Because he knows his limitations, plays his role, supports his teammates, and rarely screws up.

He has never once complained about his minutes, has been at times mocked by the "fans" in the Garden who yell at him to shoot a 3 in garbage time each time he touches the ball.  Those "fans" are pathetic.

I have followed Scal all 4 years with the Celtics, and it took me two years to "get" why Danny signed him in the first place.  Now I get it, and I, for one, will truly miss him if he goes.

You can miss him for the intangibles that he brings, but you cannot miss him for anything that he brings on the floor. He's just not very athletic out there and isn't a threat. I dont like when the bandwagoners egg him on to shoot or laugh in his face either. I'm usually yelling the opposite thing, saying get rid of the ball.

If Scal was any good, we wouldn't have had a problem with bigs coming off the bench once KG went down THIS year. Scal will barely touch the floor this year now that Rasheed is the first guy coming off the bench. He might get garbage time minutes, or minutes when Rasheed gets suspended, etc. but to know that he has made 3 million dollars for the past 5 years for being "a good guy" is painful.

Hey Ainge, I'm a pretty good guy, and would be a great teammate. Think about it!
Did you watch the Orlando series bro?  I really don't think we would've gotten to game 7 if we had Davis guarding Lewis the whole time.

I wanna address the fact that people think Danny is stupid for giving Scal so much money for being a 12th man.  You guys don't seem to realize that before the big 3 our team kinda sucked.  Scal and TA wouldn't be at the end of the bench on horrible teams.  It's not unreasonable to offer a 2nd string guy 3mil.  It seems weird now that they're getting that much money for having such a small role on our team, but hindsight is 20/20.  If Scal is gonna continue playing here i highly doubt he's gonna get the same money.

I was stunned when the Celts gave him that contract.  I remember it vividly because I was at my girlfriend's apartment at the time steaming about it.

I must say this past season he did show some life though.  As someone else said, his most valuable asset now without question is his expiring contract.

Kind of forgetting your post where you said the guy wasn't even worth a bag of funyons... Maybe you are the kind of poster that just kind of agrees with whatever is being said at the moment. My bad. I shouldn't have held you to your post. I'll remember that for next time. If you were really worried about wasting your time you probably wouldn't be posting on a Celtics blog in the middle of the summer. Sorry to waste your time buddy. If you don't want people to respond try posting things you might not be asked to back up.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
