Doc is just showcasing him. Hopefully we'll be able to trade him for a conditional 2nd round pick.
Yeah the C's can resign BBD this offseason. Whether we will or not remains to be seen. Hopefully he doesn't get a full MLE type of offer and we can get him for a little bit more reasonable price. But Turiaf got a big offer sheet, I expect baby will get a similar deal.
Perk's 4 years at around 4 per worked out for us well. Maybe Baby would too for that type of money...
Yeah, 4 years/$16 millions was more or less what Turiaf got and Davis may get something similar to that. I'm not sure if Baby is worth that for the C's though. We're already over the projected luxury tax threshold before any signings. Without knowing the budgetary restrictions, who else is going to be available and for what price and if we can dump some salaries or not it's hard to grasp how much should we offer Davis.
That is my thinking too. But with KG's and Powe's health issues I think that the C's won't be in a position to let BBD walk. Turiaf was going to be the Laker's third PF.
Of course a lot depends on who they can sign with the MLE.
I think as much as i love him and the way he plays, and feel for his bad luck, you have to consider leon very carefully.
All for signing him to a cheap 2 year deal and replacing the 12th man "project/rehab" spot with powe powe for 2010, but you can't rely on him for next year.
Yeah, I think we can afford to waste that roster spot with Leon, assuming he's willing to sign a contract with a team option for the 2nd year.
Davis, I don't know. What if the luxury tax threshold drops to $68 millions,
as some have projected and Wyc says "okay, we're spending close to the max we can afford this season, so we can go till $10 million over the threshold and pay the additional $10 million in tax money" - that would mean, for all practical effects, a $88 million salary roll and a de facto increase in personnel expenses from this season.
That would also mean you'd only have $5 millions available to spend. Would you be willing to spend it almost entirely on Big Baby and fill out the rest of the roster with min. salary players? Or do you try to split those $5 millions for a couple of veterans who can produce? Do you try to make a trade later? Do you try to make a trade to clear salary or to acquire talent?
I think it's far from a given we keep Davis, even with the Powe and Garnett situations.
Anyway, we'll have time to talk about this issue.
