i voted for Miles, but I think of the current roster the guy least likely to be a C at the start of regular season is BBD.

BBD has to much value to simply cut. traded mabey, but the only "worthless" trade wise C's with no risk contracts to cut are miles and pruitt.

While I don't see the C's cutting Bill Walker, he may be the odd man out simply due to the fact that 2nd rounders do not get guaranteed contracts usually...I am not 100% sure of his contract status so correct me if I am wrong.

I know the C's originally thought he may play overseas, which would allow them to keep his rights while not eating up a roster spot.  However since he has been brought to camp, if they waive him they lose his rights even if he goes overseas to play.

At this point, I see them keeping Walkerbut it isn't out of the question that he is the one cut.

If it wasn't for the 2 years guaranteed $$$ on the table they would have left Scal at the Mullins center...from the size of his stomach this season it looks like he is already hitting that keg beer hard so he might as well stay at Umass!

I think this shows Danny did a really nice job in the off season (except signing sam). O'Bryant is a keeper and really impressed me, Walker so far looks like PP's replacement down the road, Miles is not dead no matter what portland said.
Two guys that helped a lot last year scal & Davis are possibly not going to be on the team through trade(?).  A young athletic pg/sg with a great outside shot, pruitt, might get cut.  Or a rejuvinated vet Miles who has come way way back might not be good enough to make it.
its interesting no matter how you look at it!
course if sam is asst coach then that leaves a spot  ;)

Where's the option for Big Baby?? I still think Baby's spot on this roster is tenuous at best. oc id not have favorable reviews for Baby's last game albeit preseason. His contract is up after this year so it's easily absorbed. I know some will point to our lack of big man depth as a reason to keep him but I think they'll say that Perk, POB, and Garnett can handle it for the regular season and if need be maybe free up a spot later to add more length. I think they'll end up being satisfied enough with Miles to want to hold on to him through the season. And I do believe they will keep 4 PG's. Now this is completely independant of what I'd LIKE to see happen which is Scal getting cut. But I think there's virtually no chance of that happening regardless of what we think of his play. But Baby is still CLEARLY behind Powe in the pecking order and based on what little I know and have now seen of O'Bryant, I don't think it would take long for him to pass Baby either.

Because Davis proved last year in the regular season and playoffs, he can contribute in stretches off the bench.  He is not the type of player teams just waive.  They trade them if they can't resign them.

Yeah if the issue is resigning him which it isn't. I don't think "in stretches" is gonna be enough for Doc. He's easily replaceable by a vet free agent big. If they CAN trade him I agree. but the question of the thread was not "Who will be traded?". I believe it says "Who will be CUT?" which I can only guess doesn't assume a trade. If a player is to be cut and not traded, I think Davis has a huge target on his back. I believe it's only a matter of time before even Miles passes him on the depth chart in terms of big men. He's clearly behind Powe. By the end of preseason I think POB will have solidified himself as backup center. I think GPA think a lot of Miles and he will show enough to make them want to keep him and consider him even in a pinch at the 4. That's just what I think will happen. It doesn't look good for Davis right now.

looking into the crystal ball.... i think Miles will be cut.

I do hope he is good enough to crack the rotation though.

What value does he REALLY have. By many people's admission he was out of shape at the end of last year. He was beat out by Powe for minutes. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid and he has talent. But he's replaceable. Not just by his contract but by his contribution. We'd be lucky to get even a conditional 2nd rnd draft pick for him. It's hard to overestimate a 2nd rounder's value but I think this may just be one of those times here.

I think Danny cuts Cassell and lets him hang on as an assistant coach for the first twenty games of the season.

Let the rotation sort itself out and if Darius Miles is not part of the rotation after his 10 game suspension, he gets the ax.

I don't think Pruitt gets cut. They took him 32 or so in the draft and that is a decently high pick. There is no real reason to pull the plug on a project already.

Cassell got guaranteed money to get cut and sign as a coach, with the idea of him being activated later in the year as a player. Don't be suprised to see him retire and then un-retire later in the year either.

Why did you put Walker over Giddens, Walker is the one with a non gauranteed deal, Giddens was the 1st round pick.  Add Wwalker to that poll.

I think Pruitt's safe.  It's gotta be a Cassell stepping down deal, Miles--though it would be great to hold him for his 10 games played, or some useless trade to shed Scal.

Cassell should be cut, he should not have been signed in the first place.  Pruitt should be allowed to develop even if it's in the D league again, he has some skills and will be a decent player.  Same for Giddens.  Scal should also be cut.  He's funny during interviews, but on the court he flops around all over the place and bumps into people, drops the ball, and is a danger to himself and others.  If it was up to me, the 12 guys on the bench would be:

Perk/O'Bryant/Baby
KG/Powe
PP/Walker/Miles
Ray/TA
Rondo/House/Pruitt

Then send Giddens and Scal to the D Leauge, and cut Cassell.  Scalabrine would tear up the D League.  Scal should actually be playing in Europe, he would be dominant and would become an international sex symbol.

Right now Giddens is TA 2.0. And Walker is potentially the backup 3. Walker has more value at this moment.

Why do people think you can't cut Scal for financial reasons?  I actually understand the reasoning but if you look at the numbers it's really not that much for an NBA team.  $3 million per year for this year and next?  If they cut him they'd be paying him to not play, right?  If he stays on the team is he really going to play much?  He's the 4th string PF behind KG, Powe and BBD, with Miles playing the 4 for small ball.  So they'd still basically be paying him $6 mil not to play if they keep him anyway.

Besides the option (which was a good point) that he could be added to a trade for salary purposes I just don't see any reason to keep him.

I'd like to see a separate poll asking who should be cut, not who do you think will be cut.  I would think most people agree Scal is the worst player or least valuable player on the team.  Even if Giddens is worse than him now, at least he's young and can improve.  Scal is going downhill on a hill that wasn't big to begin with.

because a 3 million dollar expiring contract is a valuable asset. you dont just cut them, its foolish.

thats why some, like me are hoping for a trade packaging scal and a prospect (baby in my case) for a player or a pick.
