D League?

No one has mentioned the D League.   What about sending JR Giddens there to start the season and then if there are injuries bring him up.
Every time someone asks this, I look immediately at the # of posts. If there are less than 20 posts, which there usually are, they get a free pass.

guava_wrench if you know so much, what is the answer then?   Why wouldn't they put Giddens in the D League to free up a roster spot?  They did it with Pruitt last season.

two people already addressed this, sending people to the NBDL doesn't free up roster spots, they still count.

giddens is probley NBDL bound, we still need to cut someone to get down to 15 peeps.

this thread seems poll worthy

Great idea. I decided to add one.

  • Yup
Seems like most people are voting with who they wish would be cut in mind, but who is most likely to be cut.
Yup

From what I saw the other day, I really
think Scal ought to be cut. I mean, I have
a hard time seeing what he brings? That
"losetheball/thenstealit/thenloseitagain"
thing convinced me. And what, 5 TO's in
15 minutes? Not very impressive. You'd think
he would have gotten it by now.

Did the 8 votes for Scal give it away?  8)

I voted for Gabe, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

BTW- Please vote for who you think will be cut, not who you want to be cut.

I voted for the most likely if there is no trade.

Miles.

Wow, I'm tempted to wager another BrickJames challenge on this one...but I've been burned once before.

It's going to be Pruitt, and it's not even going to be close.

That is, unless there's some sort of trade where we can move our poo-poo platter of Scal, House, TAllen, Powe and/or Baby for a useful player.
God bless and good night!

Where's the option for Big Baby?? I still think Baby's spot on this roster is tenuous at best. oc id not have favorable reviews for Baby's last game albeit preseason. His contract is up after this year so it's easily absorbed. I know some will point to our lack of big man depth as a reason to keep him but I think they'll say that Perk, POB, and Garnett can handle it for the regular season and if need be maybe free up a spot later to add more length. I think they'll end up being satisfied enough with Miles to want to hold on to him through the season. And I do believe they will keep 4 PG's. Now this is completely independant of what I'd LIKE to see happen which is Scal getting cut. But I think there's virtually no chance of that happening regardless of what we think of his play. But Baby is still CLEARLY behind Powe in the pecking order and based on what little I know and have now seen of O'Bryant, I don't think it would take long for him to pass Baby either.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

Because Davis proved last year in the regular season and playoffs, he can contribute in stretches off the bench.  He is not the type of player teams just waive.  They trade them if they can't resign them.

scal should go but he is too much money to let go right now

Poseys replacement we got to figure is darius miles. We really don't have a pure sf in our lineup. So as long as he comes to play he has a definite chance to stay

However i also don't know about pruitt leaving

Next year he could be of huge value

Is there no way to send pruitt to d league again

sure tri, we can do that, but as me and Wide were discussing, that still means you have to cut someone.

NBDL players still count against the 15 player cap.

Here is how i think the celts org are looking at this

players that can be cut due to financial reason(no future obligations after this year)

Miles, Pruitt, Walker, Davis, Powe

Players that can be cut due due to inexperience

Pruitt, Walker

Players that can be cut due to unimpressive arrival to camp, overall trainning and 1st game

Pruitt, Davis

Players that should be cut because they should be mascots instead

Scal

Player that looks like will be cut

Gabe pruitt or Miles
