For people who were concerned about the "pre draft trades".  Look... if you can't develop a strategy or have the know-how to find a fantasy draft board on the internet... you probably shouldn't be participating in the first place.   Pro-tip:  Google "Fantasy basketball" or something.

I understand there are two valid camps of thought on this, but I don't see why you should dismiss me out-of-hand as clueless or out of place. I wasn't so melodramatic in making the suggestion.

Yes, god bless Roy, but I believe next years draft would benefit from either a cap on pre-draft moves or judicious use of the veto. If only because several of the least responsible GMs then predictably left town. A fair argument could be made that CelticMaestro for one deserves compensatory picks, the state of that franchise is a joke.

Yeah...  it's a tough call.  I actually love the pre-draft trades (perhaps for obvious reasons).  I think there needs to be *some* mechanism other than just trades during the draft, because five minutes between picks just isn't enough time to work anything out.

As for inactive managers...  I'm not sure what the solution is.  wdleehi announced this, and then bumped the topic multiple times each day in order to put together a good roster of owners.  Yet, people didn't come through.  It's disappointing.

One way next year might be to contract the league to 26 teams. I actually think/have argued that the NBA should do that in real life -- contract to 26 and make a real Triple-A DLeague... we could be visionaries :)

We could expand it to 17 rounds and make our NBA rosters 12-man, and D-League rosters 5 man.

I'd also consider voting for expanding to 10 mins/pick next year.

That said, this has be a BLAST!!!! ;D

If I could make a suggestion:

There's been a lot of player movement after two rounds, and the draft order no longer indicates which players are on which teams.

If people could list players in their signature or personal text of their profile (like I've done), that would help keep things straight. Last year, we dedicated a thread to team rosters, which was great, but undoubtedly a lot of work for the person(s) maintaining it. If we delegate this responsibility to each GM, it might be easier to keep up to date.

Just a suggestion.

Give me some time but I could put something together.  I was actually the one who ran the team page thread last year.

I just don't want to be the one who needs to continually update it.

If the Lakers and Bucks don't make their picks by 7pm EST do they lose their second rounders?

I remember, Donoghus. Didn't want to volunteer you (and IP?) again this year, for what had to be a pretty daunting task.

Shouldn't they be able to use those picks whenever? I think they should stay on the board.

Yeah, they'll stay on the board, because the 3rd round can't start until the Lakers make it's third round pick, anyway.

We have had at least own team owner drop out, however, and perhaps two.  We will need to find replacements.

Charlotte, NC -  In a clear and desperate move to alleviate their serious concerns and strengthen their obvious bench depth,  the Charlotte Bobcats have recently completed two trades (pending league approval) to provide them with additional picks.

The following trades (pending league approval) have been completed:

Bobcats trade:  3rd round (#26)
Wizards trade:  4th round (#2), 5th round (#8), 9th round (#8), 9th round (#29)

followed by:

Bobcats trade: 9th round (#8), 9th round (#29)
Hornets trade: 12th (#7), 13th (#24), 14th (#7), 15th (#24)

When asked for comment Larbrd33 said, "Our historical 7 pick for 1 pick trade received a lot of well deserved publicity, but ultimately we discovered that it left us with only 5 players to field a team with.   We liked who was available with the 3rd round (#26) pick, but the opportunity to cut our loses and turn it into 6 players was too much to pass up.   In the long run, we ended up going from 7 picks to 6, but unfortunately it was all the market currently allowed.  I apologize to our fanbase for failing them."

In related news, Bobcat season ticket holders have started rioting in the streets of Charlotte.  Authorities have apprehended the 6 fans.
