Before this goes any further, I vetoed the Bosh trade.

Any picks from that trade used in another trade makes those trades null and void.

I have look at no other trade yet and doubt I will till the morning.

I addressed the Rondo pick in the other thread, but I'll do it again here, in light of the "do-over" comment.

For my money, there were only three point guards I wanted in this draft: CP, Deron Williams, and Rondo. Every one else is either too old/on the decline, unproven, or simply not as good.

Was he a reach in the mid-2nd round? Definitely. Am I guilty of wearing green-tinted glasses? Maybe. But I wasn't going to move down if it meant risking his being taken until my turn came up again. I didn't like any of the offers I was given.

He's 22, extremely quick, durable, is an excellent rebounder/defender for his position, and his offensive game only lacks a consistent jump shot. He is a pure point guard, not a 2 masquerading as a 1. He's got no injury history.

My strategy is not to pick the best players. It's to build the best team, according to my own criteria. I'll defend the pick to the death, since it means I don't have to grudgingly select a Mo Williams or Beno Udrih, or pray TJ Ford doesn't slip coming out of the shower.

Why did the Bosh deal get vetoed?

Bosh is a top of the line player.  The league cannot let him be moved for two 3rd rounder and a 4th.  Bosh is worth more.  The person wanting to trade needs to shop around.

Eh...  not my call, because I'm not a "voting" member of the NBA front office.

That being said (personal opinion only) Redz' trade was a lot more defensible than this one.  He moved up 15+ picks in seven different rounds (including the 3rd, 5th, and 7th, where there is good value), plus got two late round picks.

If moving up six slots is worth four draft picks, how much is the 105 slots Redz moved up worth? ;)

When all these rounds are completed and we see what kind of mistakes our RIVAL Gm's make and what kind of players are available and what kind of trades they made to get those picks... I'm sure I could put every trade under a microscope and come up with some amazingly lopsided stuff.    In my mind, a good GM has enough foresight and research to know what's available, whose available and what people will pay for it.  To use the trading card analogy... if you have a strong indicator that your friend's pack of cards has a vintage rookie Larry Bird in it... you might trade a whole box for that pack.

It's bogus if someone says "no no no you can't do that".  I wanted to restrain from naming names, because I'm just giving my RIVAL Gm's tips in the process... but hypothetically what if the 3rd round #26 pick ends up being Vince Carter or Ron Artest and the 4th round #2 pick ends up being Troy Murphy, because that's all that is left.   Was it really worth it to pick up a couple scrubs in the process?  Of course not.

And so I take great offense to other people trying to influence the outcome of someone elses strategy.  People made their decisions... so let them make em.

I just heard strong indicator that the commish is leaning towards veto'ing the last three trades.  I don't approve of this.

It's all part of the game, really.   Earlier I was offering Deron Williams for the Hawks three 2nd round picks (9th 13th and 16th).   I was trying desperately to get those picks, because I had the slightest hope that Derrick Rose was going to fall to #9.   Well Lucky17 refused to deal with me (rightfully so) and took Luol Deng #9.   I then was desperately offering Deron Williams for Deng #13 and #16.   He again refused ... I tried to desperately include more picks (including my 3rd rounder) and he still refused.  With the #13 he took Al Horford.  Now suddenly I figured there was no way that Derrick Rose would last until #16 so I didn't have interest in giving up Deron Williams.  After the 15th pick I again desperately (even more so) tried to throw everything I had at Atlanta in a Deron Williams for Deng, Horfod and the #16 (who I would use to take Rose).   Again he declined (very very rightfully so).  I was offering my 3rd... i was offering Yao... I was offering Marion... trying everything I could to make something happen.... then shockingly he decided to take Rondo instead (after I had repeatedly told him about wanting Rose).  I lost interest and we haven't discussed a trade since.    Rose ended up falling to me at #23.  Who woulda thunk?

Again... it's all perception.  All.... part of the game... ;)

I felt I was pretty clear with you from the beginning, LarBrd: I love Williams, but there was no way I was going to sacrifice the rest of my draft to acquire him. And Yao and Marion do not fit my philosophy for building my team, talented as they may be.

Also, Horford was taken by Hobbs (and I'd have taken him at #16 instead of Rondo, had he been there). It was Deng and Okafor (at #11) before I took Rondo.

I also don't think its fair to veto the Bosh deal given how many other trades went thru. People traded higher picks for less. Besides I thought part of the game was people could be as crafty or foolish as they wanted. However what is, is.

I'd like to personally thank the Charlotte Bobcats for sucking the fun out of this draft

In case anyone wants to keep debating this, they are wasting their time.

I figured by now people would figure out once I make a decision, I am not going to change it.

The Bosh trade is rejected.

If you do not like the reason, I don't really care.

I tell you what, guys.  I'm putting this out there.   I think it's entirely CRAP that LeBron was robbed from Robb, but I understood it on some level because Robb accepted it.

However... not allowing the Wizards to play the game the way he sees fit is absurd.

If this veto is overturned (as it should... because the veto power is garbage) I'll have the following team:

PG - Deron Williams
C - Yao Ming
SF - Shawn Marion
PG - Derrick Rose

4th round (#2)
5th round (#8)
12th (#7)
13th (#24)
14th (#7)
15th (#24)

From what I understand, after the trade... the Wizards with have five third round picks and a 4th round pick.

I am offering to swap franchises with the Wizards.  He can take the Bobcats.  I can take the Wizards.

And you know what?  I'll still be able to build a better team than 90% of the people participating and I'll likely be a contender for the championship.

The offer is out there if the Wizards agree to it.  It's the only way this will be fair, apparently since someone just got ROBBED of Bosh.

We are not going to trade teams.

We can find a replacement for you if you like.
