Why are people acting like the Heat deal was so enormous? It was literally the rumored package plus Jakuckonis.

What Milwaukee was asking for from us was enormous, but that?s mostly because they apparently valued Jaylen and Herro very similarly.

That is my biggest concern moving forward. If we do keep Jaylen, we absolutely cannot give him that extension. He is already overpaid and that will be compounded by making him a $70M/yr player.

Looks like last year really was a waste. Winning 56 games, getting #27 in the draft, and losing in the 1st round. At least if we were able to sell high on Jaylen and buy low on Giannis, it would have all been worth it.

Agree. This team feels totally handcuffed now. They are being forced to pretty much run it back after overachieving last season with a roster that just is not very good with a terrible play style and a coach that doesn't seem to know what to do.

This team has so many holes and so little assets to fix them that it just doesn't feel like Brad can fill them with quality.

A roster that without Tatum isn't very good and overachieved.

A roster with Tatum is very good and a 55-60 win season would not be overachieving.

The problem is, even with Tatum the team has underachieved in the playoffs 3 of the past 4 seasons.

If Joe had been able to use Vuc effectively I'd actually feel pretty good right now, because we'd have our center rotation in place (as Vuc would come back), and we'd have the MLE to add an effective scorer like Simons, Sexton or even Powell. 

But, because of the failure to properly use Vucevic, we need to find a competent center, meaning it's less likely we can add to the team elsewhere.

I know Vuc is likely out the door, but is it definitive? I still don?t understand what went wrong there. He?s a good shooter and great rebounder.

I wonder if a training camp would make a difference. Seems like he was just thrust into a situation he was unfamiliar with and clearly looked uncomfortable anytime he was on the court.

I just don't think he ever got time to get comfortable.  He showed flashes of what he could be for this team, then he got hurt.  He played like 1 minute with JT back, then got tossed right into the pressure of the playoff series where his role was very much up in the air.

Or he could have just turned ancient overnight and become unplayable.

If so, doesn't that mean that the hard cap relative to the use of the TPE resets, and that they wouldn't be hardcapped at the first apron?

Meaning that if they needed to exceed the first apron to resign Powell, they could?

Welp, this is disappointing.

But the Miami offer was better for the Bucks, I?ll concede. I honestly thought the Heat overpaid. Herro is whatever but getting 2 cost controlled decent young players + 4 picks (3+swap right?) is pretty amazing. We got 3 picks including swaps for Pierce and KG and everyone talked about what a steal that was.

Disagree. If Milwaukee was smart, they would've taken Brown and flip him to SA. They have a ton of picks and would probably give those and Fox up. A vet in his prime on that team makes them scary good.
While the Bucks did get a haul, those picks are several years down the road and this rebuild is going to be drawn out longer than necessary.

I'd go as far to say that this is a borderline disaster for the Bucks. Sure, they are getting the Miami picks in 2031 and 2033, but what about the next 5 years? They don't control their picks until 2031 and they have no headline player (young or old) to lead their team. They are going to be a bottom feeder for the next several years with absolutely nothing to show for it in terms of draft picks.

I can't believe they weren't interested in a 3-way deal with Portland for Sharpe and their picks back. Just knowing you can look forward to 2028, rather than 2031, gives fans something to look forward to. Are they really going to plaster Tyler Herro's face on billboards around Milwaukee? Are they going to be stuck paying him a Trae Young-like deal because he puts up big stats on a terrible team? If I'm a Bucks fan, I am distraught.

If we do trade Jaylen, it'll be really interesting to see what we get. The Bucks would have been able to get that package plus 2 1sts from us. Will it end up better than the Heat package? I'd imagine so, unless Jaylen really isn't valued around the league.

Correct.  It is a new league year deal and they will need move salary or lose Powell.  I would be nice to Miami and give them a future 2nd (or #40) in a S&T for Powell using the TPE.

Funny thing is, Miami will probably pick at 13 tonight on behalf of the Bucks. So, does that draftee have to stand up there wearing a Miami Heat hat at the stage?

Heat are expected to target outside shooting to fill its roster this offseason though it will be difficult as they are hard-capped at the first apron. Powell made $20 million last season and won't take a pay cut of $8 million to return. Wiggins also likely opts in to his $30.2m option.

I'm still curious to see how they fill out the guards and wing spots in the offseason. Giannis-Bam-Portis is a nice frontcourt rotation, and I'm sure Jovic will get traded for a piece, but like is Mitchell a legit starting PG? Is Wiggins gonna remain effective? Idk. Powell to me is gone, people just assume he's in their starting lineup I doubt it.
