As a service for Cavs Corner: swaps are in 2026 & 2028, which means they?re ?swaps on swaps? with those already swapped with Utah from Donovan Mitchell trade.

So this means the swap is only available if the first swap comes to fruition?  Or do they still have the option of taking the swap if the first one doesn't happen?

Pretty good team. Still like the C's chances against the Cav's, the C's just seem to control that match up. The reaosn playing the C;s is so stough is becasue if you have even one weak defender the C's will exploit it, and Garland tries hard but is just small. It does give the cav's a slightly better chance of winning a shoot-out type series.

That is one hell of a lineup.  Can't believe Atlanta traded Hunter for that pile of garbage.  Cleveland Boston in the playoffs is going to be must watch tv.

Cleveland won't make it to the ECF.

Now Cleveland looks like a title contender.

They can't beat Boston in a 7 game series. Probably not the Knicks either. We know who the Cavs are come playoff time. Second round and done.

Great get for the Cavs. Still think we should be favored as it doesn?t eliminate their tiny backcourt and rapidly descending shooting streak, but that was definitely a need for them.

You have to think that the game on Tuesday pushed them over the edge on this. We?ve controlled the majority of all three games this year, despite only being healthy for one of them. They knew they needed better perimeter D to stand a chance of upsetting us.

So this is interesting. The Spurs have the right to swap their 26' first for the Hawks 26' first. Meanwhile the Jazz can swap their 26' first for the Cav's 26' first. So this would essentially give the right for the Hawks to swap the worse of theirs/spurs for the worse of cavs/jazz in 2026.

Its a swap on a double swap.

Interesting deal.

Hunter has great counting stats and solid efficiency, but I'm not sure how impactful he is.  Advanced stats kinda hate him.  But as flawed as those are, it's difficult to know when to take that seriously.  They've never liked JB either.

Advanced stats

* D Hunter always reminded me (defensively) of Grant Williams in that he was a good one-on-one defender but was slow footed in defensive rotations. So his team defense was often below average. I thought those hurt his defensive numbers in advanced stats.

* His rebounding was terrible. It was a big liability at SF and a massive liability at PF. This killed him. 4 rebounds per game in 30 minutes playing time for his career.

* Non-passer. No added value as a passer. Ball movement is worse when he is on the floor. 1:1 AST:TOV ratio which is what you expect from a center not a small forward. Low assists numbers at 1.5apg.

* His scoring efficiency has been bad most of his career. He was a chucker. A volume scorer. Below average scoring efficiency every year until last season. And then this season he became a way above average scoring efficiency player for the first time (61.6% TS%). It is a breakout campaign for him.

I think the advanced stats were right in a lot of their criticism of him in past seasons. This season though ... very impressive player. I like him as the best bench player in the league this year. 6th man of the Year. A huge part of Atlanta's success this season.

They aren't making a trade. They will look to the buyout market or waste 2 roster spots on Davison and Peterson.

Signing those 2 guys means the bench stays a liability.

If I were Cleveland, I'd bring D Hunter off the bench given he has played so well in that role this season.

Let him be a gunner. He takes 13.3 FGAs and 4.6 FTAs in just 28.8mpg. He won't get that many shots playing behind D Mitchell, Garland and Mobley in the starting lineup. Let him come off the bench and be a gunner. Then finish the game alongside the other starters.

I'm still hoping for a Javonte Green or Seth Curry addition.

If not, maybe just bring back Lonnie Walker or sign Torrey Craig (he cleared waivers right?)
