Honestly it's been kind of nuts. Very entertaining.

The Phoenix Suns are trading Jusuf Nurkic and a 2026 first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic and a 2026 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

Charlotte got a center to replace Mark Williams and Nick Richards. They had none after trading those two guys.

I don't see either of those two guys making the Suns rotation. Good 3rd stringers though. Also have Damion Lee as a 3rd stringer. Three good 3rd stringers on the perimeter. Plus Bol Bol as a big.

Another good deal for Charlotte, they've been surprisingly competent as a front office lately. They'll need some lottery luck but getting an extra 2026 first and that 2031 Lakers first is nice work from them.

Meanwhile this is a money saving move for Phoenix. Martin+Micic make slightly less together than Nurkic this year, but more importantly Micic  has a team option for 25-26 and Martin in non-guaranteed for 25-26 so they can let those guys go an completely get off Nurkic's 19.4 million for 25-26. That will save them an astronomical amount of money in salary+luxury tax next season.

Hunter is the Cavs answer to stop JT and JB?  Not a chance.

Garland-Mitchell-Hunter-Mobley-Allen

Pretty good team. Still like the C's chances against the Cav's, the C's just seem to control that match up. The reaosn playing the C;s is so stough is becasue if you have even one weak defender the C's will exploit it, and Garland tries hard but is just small. It does give the cav's a slightly better chance of winning a shoot-out type series.

Hunter seems like a guy who is not at all afraid taking (and making) the big shots.  I still don't trust Garland in that spot.  If Mitchell needs a guy to dish to in the clutch he's got a good one.

Interesting deal.

Hunter has great counting stats and solid efficiency, but I'm not sure how impactful he is.  Advanced stats kinda hate him.  But as flawed as those are, it's difficult to know when to take that seriously.  They've never liked JB either.

What is in it for Atlanta?

I don't understand their end of things.

That is one hell of a lineup.  Can't believe Atlanta traded Hunter for that pile of garbage.  Cleveland Boston in the playoffs is going to be must watch tv.

My guess: Its mostly a money thing. Jalen Johnson goes from 5 million this year to 30 million next year. Had they kept Hunter they would have been basically right at the tax after they filled out their team. Moving off his 20 million in exchange for expirings opens up more financial flexibility.

Still, you'd think they could have gotten at least a first for him.

So Atlanta would be

G: Trae Young, Kreji, K Bufkin
G: Dyson Daniels, Caris LeVert, G Matthews
F: Z Risaccher, Bogdanovic
F: L Nance, G Niang, D Roddy
C: Capela, Okongwu

Injured: Jalen Johnson

They look weaker to me. DeAndre Hunter was a huge part of their successful run this season. They struggled at the start of the season when he was missing. Played great when he came back. Then they got hit by the injury bug again recently with lots of different players missing time which has made them struggle again. They looked like a 47-50 win team for that period when they were healthy / whole.

As a service for Cavs Corner: swaps are in 2026 & 2028, which means they?re ?swaps on swaps? with those already swapped with Utah from Donovan Mitchell trade.

Now Cleveland looks like a title contender.
