In an interview posted by the team Tuesday, controlling owner (Titans) Amy Adams Strunk was asked if she considered trading the coach (Vrabel)  instead of firing him.

"Yes, there was. But there's a bit of misconception about a coach's contract, say versus a player's contract. A coach's contract, you can't trade them unless they are a willing partner to that trade," she said. "So, yes, we thought about it but at the end of the day with league rules the way they are it would have maybe put us back three weeks and you know, to get the right head coach I was just not willing to go to the back of the line and take a chance of missing out on someone we really wanted."

Basically takes two to tango.

It was the highway really. But they should've really fired the Titans GM for trading AJ Brown, and mismanaging their roster. Since they're an AFC team, one less team to worry about down the road as they'll be stuck in mediocrity forever.

After extensive meetings Monday and Tuesday, the Bears are not making a head coaching change and Matt Eberflus offically is expected to return for the 2024 season, per league sources.

More of the same from that organization. I hope they at least fire the OC.

He is indeed out, along with the QB coach and WR coach.

Very un-Bears like.  Good for them.

What's interesting to me is seeing if they stick with Fields or draft a QB. That could also affect the calculus of what other teams do.

If they are worried about their job, drafting a QB may give the GM and and head coach a longer leash.

True. I'm also noticing, a lot of mock drafts have the Bears taking Caleb Williams, Commanders taking Maye, and Patriots taking Daniels at 1-2-3. MHJ to Cardinals at 4. Yes, these are just mock draft predictions, but I imagine some of these reporters do have some inside knowledge on this stuff and it's a lot of mock drafts not just 1 or 2 websites.

Caleb Williams is going 1 a d I'd very surprised if Drake Maye wasn't 2.  It has been that way for well over a year for a reason. Now who takes those guys is open for discussion but I think the chance Chicago stays at 1 and takes a non-qb is almost 0

WOW! Pete Carroll being let go by the Seahawks as HC.

Could possibly remain in the organization still but not as HC, according to Schefter

I have not been following things in Seattle but this is a surprise.  I have been saying that this may be the blueprint for Belichick, that he stays in the organization but they bring in someone else to be the head coach.

Most seem to think just the opposite, that he stays as head coach but gives up other responsibilities.  I see this as unlikely.

Definitely a bit surprising.  He seemed to have weathered the  post-Russell Wilson world alright but, apparently, not enough for ownership.

Fun fact.  Carroll is older than Belichick.

Pete Carroll is out as the Seahawks head coach. He and the organization have "amicably agreed he will transition into an advisor role."

so maybe he just wanted to be done on sideline

Exactly, maybe Pete Carroll just decided to take a step back.  There could be more to it than that but no reason to think there necessarily is any more to it.
