This offseason is shaping up to be the most influential in a while. They need to nail the new organization, and they need to nail the top of the draft. If they fail at either, we could be staring down the barrel of mediocrity for awhile.

Obvious points I know, but still important.

Nick Saban and Belichick out in back to back days. That’s like Deniro and Pacino leaving. End of an era.

Wonder if they will swap positions

Thanks for everything Belichick!

But yeah, it was time.

Now comes a big offseason and the official changing of the eras. With Belichick still around there was still a little bit of that "mystique" even after TB12 left, but now that's all gone too.

Personally I want Vrabel if I had to choose with a new GM hire, but I think it'll be Mayo. They do need a real GM though and I assume they'll hire one first then he decides the HC

I wonder if Saban would take a GM role or at least a draft consultant. He would know the college players well.  He seems good at picking talent.

Definitely an end of an era.  What a run.

Hope BB catches on somewhere. Coaching is in his blood and you can tell he still enjoys the game.

I'm hearing rumors that Bobby Valentine is the current frontrunner for the HC spot
I'm bitter.

Nonsense

Matt Patricia and Joe Judge are battling for the HC spot!

Interview from Kraft was interesting. I will post it once available.

One of the reporters asked Bob If he considered keeping Bill as coach and relinquish him of the GM duties. He basically said that it would not have worked. That once someone has that amount of power with the decision making you can’t just take it away from them.

One thing that I hope Kraft keeps in mind: there needs to be a separate head coach and GM. With that in mind, does the team hire a GM first, and allow that person to hire the head coach?

I think that's the common practice in baseball.  I would prefer to see Kraft hire a GM first.

Best practice is to hire a GM and let him decide who the coach is and the direction this is going. Excited for this change.

As for Bill, he'll want to chase Don's record so he should def wait to see the NFC playoffs play out...if Cowboys, Eagles, or another repeat playoff team get bounced early, expect some coaches to get fired and BB swoops in. They'd have the roster ready for him.

As for power and coaching, Chargers have vacancies for both roles so I can see why they're favored to land BB. They have the QB.

The idea of Kraft hiring a GM, and letting that person hire the head coach, negates the notion that Kraft will hire Mayo as the next head coach.
