Sounds like Josh McDaniels has been around Foxboro quite a bit of late. He was at the Jets game and also at Bill and Bobs press conference the other day…

I wonder if Bill O'Brien interviews for a head coaching position.

There's also a lot of new coaching opportunities opening up in the NCAAF and they pay a ton. Frankly I'm not sold Bill O'Brien will stay here beyond 2024 anyways. I wouldn't mind Josh McDaniels back as offensive coordinator + QB coach. Say what you want but his offenses were competent and Mac Jones had a very promising rookie year going 10-7 and making the playoffs with him. Then it went kapoot after he left and Patricia/Judge took over.

That said, I wonder if McDaniels is planning to join up with Belichick wherever he goes

I don't know if McDaniels is trying to attach himself to Bill or the Patriots.

AJ Brown apparently hasn't practiced this week and seems to have deactivated a lot of his social media + removed all tags with Eagles on them. If he's available, Pats need to do the right thing and get their guy they missed on in 2019 for N'Keal Harry (VOMIT).

AJ Brown said he even wanted to come to NE and cried when they didn't take him (true story)

Wasted potential melting away in Tennessee and Philly, another good reason why Belichick is gone (good riddance). Imagine we had AJ Brown in 2019.

Edelman, AJ Brown, Josh Gordon, James White...team would still have made it to another AFCCG.

Can anyone provide information on the Patriots' financial situation? Do they have cap room, and are they well-positioned to acquire offensive weapons for the quarterback they draft?

Listen to this,  this is from Taylor Patriots reporter.

Bill saw AJ Brown and Deebo Samuel joking around at a workout and was turned off by it. Thought they weren't taking it seriously.

So he decides to take Nkeal Harry who had a great workout.

Also mentioned how he would often overrule the scouts who travel nonstop and build up these grades over years in favor of advice he got from a freind he trusts.

Sounded like an ego problem to me, the same ego problem that helped benched Malcolm Butler and costed us a Superbowl against Philly.

Last I saw, the Pats were projected to have like 75 million.in cap space, which was like 3rd most. And they don't really have any expensive extensions they need to make.  Pats should be able to really reboot and start over
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

70M, and they could probably even open up some more with restructures or extensions on young players that could decrease the cap hit for 2024. Also the #3 pick obviously.

They have more than enough to acquire a QB, WR1 (Higgins or MHJ via draft), OT, re-sign Bourne, Henry + Onwenu + Andrews and a few others to reasonable deals. Still have Demario Douglas, maybe Boutte as well vying for a spot. Ideally dump 1 or 2 of Parker/Thornton/JuJu somehow similar to how they did Jonnu last year.

I don't think the defense needs major changes with Judon + Gonzalez coming back from injury. Maybe fortify some depth and add a good hybrid LB but a lot of the pieces are there.

Please get rid of Acchord though (Special Teams coordinator). He's been awful for 3+ years now. And the unit has suffered as a result too.

Here’s what I’m told on the Patriots front-office situation…

They are not expected to bring in a new general manager. It’s anticipated by team sources that both Matt Groh and Eliot Wolf will remain with the Patriots and have prominent roles in personnel.

Wolf is fine.

Groh is terrible though. He basically oversaw the 2022 Draft which was a disaster and made such a big deal about drafting Thornton (ha, BUST!). He really only has this job because he's Al Groh's son and they have a great relationship with Belichick.

I wish Kraft would start to purge some of these Belichick guys but sadly it's looking like he's just gonna pray removing Belichick alone will do the trick. Cam Achord shouldn't be here. Neither should Groh or Joe Judge.

Part of me wonders if Kraft needs to go to. The guy hates change, and needs familiarity. Why not go outside the organization for a head coach and GM? Also, Kraft is the one who hamstrung Belichick with a budget, and never let Bill forget about the one time he let Bill go over the budget a few years ago.

Too bad we can't fire the owner  :P

What they do this FA will be telling, and also what Belichick does with his new team IF he's also GM. Because if the Pats cheap out again and Belichick actually goes elsewhere and signs some marquee guys for his new team, that makes Kraft look worse and makes it look like he was the reason they didn't spend much. Belichick could shield him from that criticism but he's no longer here and I highly doubt anyone will criticize Mayo if they don't spend since he's simply the HC (not GM)

That year Bob gave Bill his checkbook was a disaster, though. Basically set the money on fire. Jonnu Smith and Nelson Agholor signings in particular.  :-X

Smith had almost as many receptions this year in Atlanta as he did in the 2 years in NE. He had more yards and more TD's.  Perhaps the problem in NE was coaching and not Smith.
