If Pats want Penix, there’d be no reason not to trade down. The #3 pick will attract multiple teams trying to get Daniels or Harrison. Not sure how far down Pats could go to assure getting Penix but the lower they’re willing to go, the more capital they’ll demand along with the #1.

Decent chance penix goes second round…

According to whom? He's #10 on Kiper's Big Board.

Joe Burrow is a guy that rose high in the draft after a great season, even though he wasn't the most athletic guy coming out of high school.
ESPN in their best available has him as 30th best available player.

Kiper is ESPN's main draft guy. His big board came out 3 days ago. A lot of the draft rankings have yet to be updated.

For instance, Tez Walker (UNC WR that got screwed out of playing games) just jumped from around 100 to top 50 according to nfldraftbuzz.com, a site that has a good draft simulator. In my free time, I'm simulating the Pats draft by trading down for a king's ransom.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Penix stock shot up after TX game. If he has another game like that in championship game, he is probably a top 10 lock. I think he is the best QB in this draft.

It's seems like there's a lag in rankings. For instance, I don't think Drake Maye looked very good this year. He had a great 2022. Wins and losses shouldn't all come down to the QB, but its generally a good sign if your QB can score enough to win a game. Maye couldn't do that in a weakened ACC.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

And that is how you end up with Mac Jones.  You take Penix that high and you might as well just resign now.

I would be happy with a rookie QB that has 22TD’s/3800 yards passing, makes the playoffs and pro-bowl. Sounds good to me!  :D

It’s pretty wild to think a guy that has been in college for 6 years has his stock shoot up from one game.

All I gotta say, if clay and I are this lock-stepped on something, it must be true.

I'm curious to see how Penix and JJ McCarthy look tomorrow night. Winning on the big stage always matters, even if Mac Jones ended up sucking (in an impossible situation).

I can’t see the Bears taking anyone but a QB (most likely Williams) at #1.

I’m not sure he’ll be ROY, but I think a lot of people don’t realize he’s only 20.  I think he’ll be a great pro, albeit one who’d be best served not to be tossed to the wolves on opening day.  He’s 14 months younger than Caleb Williams despite both being juniors.

I thought they might stick with Fields, but after his post game interview, I'm not sure. He thanked the city and it seemed like he's going to take his show on the road. In that case, I see Williams and Maye going in that order. The Patriots could pick Jayden Daniels, Marvin Harrison, or Joe Alt/Olu Fashanu.

I think that the #1 pick will be Williams no matter what.  If the Bears stick with Fields, they'll trade down.  After watching yesterday, though, I think the momentum is to start over with a rookie.
