With Tatum, Brown, White TIMELORD, and Porzingis on the floor how many open looks will Prozingis get?
It wouldn't shock me if Timelord gets moved. His value right now may be as high as it's ever going to get.

If Porzingis is the 3rd best player on your team, you have a STACKED team. Add D-White and Timelord, 2 very high level role players, and this team is ridiculous

I wonder what else PBS will do but this team, as constructed, looks scary on paper.

White-Brown-Tatum-Zinger-Timelord

The talent level is amazing.

Then again, it was amazing last year / this year as well.

Who takes Grant's role? Hopefully they draft someone tonight that can step in for him if he goes. Also, who do they get if Grant leaves using the exception or in a sign and trade?

I seriously doubt that whoever gets drafted tonight at 25 is going to be expected to contribute this season.  And they could well be drafting for another team.

I think JWhite can hold down the fort as point guard and he was on second team all defense.  And while Brogdon stunk in Miami, he was hurt and was great for us all season and in the prior playoff series.

Based on the Miami series - not to mention the Golden State series last year - I don't see how you can make that statement. Our guard play stunk in both series and Smart was the best of all of them when it came to taking care of the basketball and trying to run the team. Not that he was great at it, but he was the best on the roster.  There's a huge hole there right now that no one on the team that finished last season can adequately fill.

Agreed. Smart was out best guard in the playoffs this year. D White was 2nd. Brogdon the worst. And the previous year, Smart obviously outplayed D White.

Smart 15ppg 5ast 4rpg 1.3spg on 59% TS% in the playoff this season. He has gotten strangely little praise for how well he was playing in the playoffs.

D White got a lot of praise for when he was playing well and hardly any criticism when he was playing badly which was most of the Philly series. Also strange. 9ppg 1apg vs Philly. How does a PG / combo guard as good as D White get only 1apg in a series? Awful series.

Boy, it would shock me.

Horford and RWill are 24 min/gm players due to age and/or durability concerns.  Porzingis probably should be no more than 30 min/gm on average.  That is only about 78 min out of 96 min total.  We still are going to need say 18 min from someone.  If you trade RWill, the gap gets quite a bit bigger.  And all of these players will miss games.  Grant is the perfect bench player to add to this rotation but he really should not be playing starter minutes and if his cost gets too high, he is probably gone anyway.

You could look at this as trade RWill to save money and then sign Grant to replace him, but then you still need one more PF/C at that can play regularly (and that isn't Luke Kornet).  Depending on what you get for RWill in a trade like that, I guess that could be good possibility.  Say you trade RWill for a useful bench wing on a much cheaper contract, and sign Grant.  That could be better than keeping RWill and losing Grant for nothing.  But I doubt it goes that way.

It would shock me too. His contract alone makes him worth keeping.

Celtics traded for KP to solidify a weak backcourt. They aren't creating another weak backcourt.

KP, Horford and Robwill all need to be managed.

Per Jake Fischer:

The Hawks continued to be described as one of the more active teams in trade dialogue around the NBA. Hunter, John Collins and All-Star guard Dejounte Murray, in addition to starting center Clint Capela, continue to be mentioned by team personnel as viable trade candidates, with Hunter appearing to be involved in most of the Hawks’ possibilities entering draft night.
Boy, I wish the C's could get him. His defense will replace the loss of Smart, but at the wing position, an area of need. He shoots the 3 a decent clip.

DeAndre Hunter is another Hawks wing I don't think much of. I don't like his defense. Too slow. He needs to play PF but he doesn't have the size for it. His rebounding is awful (only 4rpg in 32mpg). His passing is mediocre (1.4apg despite taking 12 FGAs per game). His shooting is mediocre (35% 3PT% medium volume). His scoring efficiency is below par (56% TS% vs 58% league average).

He is a moderate bench player talent wise. Reputation wise he is a quality starter with low level star potential. Performance wise he is a moderate bench player.

I am not even sure he is as good as G Will. At least G Will is a legit sharp shooter and frankly a better defender in my book too.

I don't think Atlanta has much talent in the wing. I don't find D Hunter or S Bey impressive. Or Jalen Johnson. Their young guy AJ Griffin might be their best wing prospect.

I like Hunter, but if people here are worried about paying Grant $15 million a year, I don’t think they’d be happy with Hunter at $22.5 million per year.

I would actually say that Porzingis (when healthy, of course) is the second-best player on the team behind Tatum. Doesn't change what you're saying, of course. Team is stacked regardless.

Agreed - Porzingis is a more talented player than Jaylen. Less consistent though. Only see that player for periods of time (sometimes short periods sometimes long periods depending on injuries) and then he drops down below Jaylen's level.

For what it's worth, FanDuel now has the Celtics as favorites to win the 2024 NBA champinship at +460. Before the trade, they were behind Denver.
