If Porzingis is the 3rd best player on your team, you have a STACKED team. Add D-White and Timelord, 2 very high level role players, and this team is ridiculous

I wonder what else PBS will do but this team, as constructed, looks scary on paper.

White-Brown-Tatum-Zinger-Timelord
I would actually say that Porzingis (when healthy, of course) is the second-best player on the team behind Tatum. Doesn't change what you're saying, of course. Team is stacked regardless.

Agreed - Porzingis is a more talented player than Jaylen. Less consistent though. Only see that player for periods of time (sometimes short periods sometimes long periods depending on injuries) and then he drops down below Jaylen's level.

I think that with more talent around him Porzingis will be much more consistent.

Per sources, the Clippers’ reversal on Brogdon was centered on not having time to complete a physical exam.

It’s still unclear whether Brogdon will need surgery on his forearm. But if he does, the belief is that he’d still be ready for the start of next season.

That's a lot more reasonable and believable than what Windhorst was spouting earlier.

The only concern is why haven't they determined whether or not he needs surgery yet? He's been injured for over a month and the season ended 3 weeks ago.

Windy doesn’t know squat. He probably reported what Ballmer told him to report.

whatever it is, team needed a mentality change. I'm still torn on us tearing it down. And hope seeing Smart traded doesnt have a negative effect on Tatum/Brown....afterall the reason they need to trade Brogdon or smart/let Grant go is because of the supermax they will command.

but on the other hand, how many years can we keep seeing the same issues come up short and just run it back

so we lost smart instead of Brogdan because clippers are worried about Tennis elbow?

Usually partial torn tendon don't require surgery...tho I'm no doctor.

And even with surgery, I think the projection would be mid-December at latest.

The report never made sense. Clips really shot themselves in the foot, and we lost Smart because of it, though it does seem like the Grizzlies trade may have happened regardless. Seems like they want a new direction and voice in the locker room.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I have to admit, if we end up facing the Nuggets and/or Sixers, Porzingis vs Embiid/Jokic would be interesting

It won't be, it will be as it should, defense by committee.

Hard to answer that.  I'm no doctor and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.

I don't think it's unusual for doctors to first attempt to fix injuries like this with rest, though, and that often takes several weeks as far as I'm aware.

I had a partial tear some years ago(had an MRI). It healed on it's own, despite me still lifting weights like a dummy. It can take a long time to heal without surgery, but it can be done with the right treatment. For this reason, I think he'll be good to go next year.

Yes, Brogdon has an injury.  And this trade had to be done in a day.  I can understand LAC having reservations.  I wonder how they are dealing with the physicals for Smart, Porzingis, and Jones.  None of them have a known injury like Brogdon but still, trades are usually contingent on a physical.

This all seems fairly reasonable.  Intangibles are going to favor Smart, but Porzingis is really good.

Quote
So what are the numbers seeing here? Let's start with what Porzingis brings to the table. Boston's big men last season rarely ever scored. In fact, Porzingis averaged nearly as many points alone (23.2) as Al Horford, Grant Williams and Robert Williams III (25.9) combined. He scored 259 points on post-ups last season, the eighth-most in all of basketball at a very efficient 1.18 points per possession. More importantly, he is a dangerous shooting threat from deep.

Porzingis hit 38.5% of the 3-pointers he took per game last season. That is impressive in itself, but remember, he made those looks on a Wizards team where he was frequently the No. 1 option offensively. Now he falls down to No. 3 on the hierarchy. Only around 44% of his 3-pointers were considered wide open last season by NBA.com's tracking data. By contrast, around 75% of Al Horford's 3-pointers last season fell into that category. Porzingis is going to get the best looks of his career in Boston.

One of Boston's theoretical losses here comes on defense. Smart is a former Defensive Player of the Year, but Derrick White earned Second-Team All-Defense honors last season, and typically, it is far easier for bigger players to impact a team's overall defensive performance than smaller ones. In this respect, the numbers seemingly love what Porzingis brings to the table. Virtually every notable catch-all defensive metric ranked Porzingis as a very good defender last season. ESPN's Defensive Real Plus-Minus ranked him 23rd out of 77 qualifying centers last season, while FiveThirtyEight's RAPTOR ranked him 18th. Porzingis brings an element of stationary rim-protection to Boston that the Celtics had previously lacked.
